Tom Brady vs. Sterling Sharpe

Just goes to show how much you and the author know. ESPN is extremely anti-Patriots. Tom Jackson, Chris Carter, Mark Shlereth, Steve Young, Trey Wingo, Mike Ditka. Mike Golic all hate the Patriots and let their bias come shinning right through.

As expected the media knows less about sports than the reader or fan, been that way forever.

This according to who? you? The New England Pats fans....? Are we talking about the same bunch of spoiled children that actually BOOOed their beloved Pats team when they lost to the Dolphins at home....?!

Chimelis: Pats boo birds are morons

Politicians sometimes struggle to tell people what we don't like to hear, but Ellis Hobbs does not have this problem. After the Miami Dolphins had wiped the Gillette Stadium turf with his team Sunday, the Patriots cornerback gave us the straight skinny. Asked what he thought of the fans booing like there was no tomorrow (or in the case of this wildly successful team, no yesterday) Hobbs called it a "testament to how spoiled" they were.

And he is absolutely right.

I find it hard to adore the Patriots lately. The bad taste of Spygate lingers with me. That said, anybody who claims allegiance to this team, probably wears all its garb, then starts booing during its second loss in 22 games, deserves a team like the Lions, not the Pats. The fans didn't even wait for the end of the 38-13 loss. They were booing by halftime with the score 21-6, which shows how much faith they really have in Matt Cassel. Cassel was inadequate, the defense was terrible, and this was the most poorly prepared Patriots team of the Bill Belichick era. But it was one game, played without Tom Brady, the NFL's best player.

In a sense, the Patriots brought this on themselves with their own ruthless, just-win-baby mentality. In Belichick's world, only results matter. The results were bad. Ticket prices are exorbitant.

YEAH..."media knows less about sports than the reader or fan..."

You're also buying in on the conspiracy against the Pats? awwww. the whole world is against the bill and the pats.

No one is anti patriot. Truth is the pats are a bunch of cheaters. deal with it :D the truth shall set you free

No, no conspiracy. ESPN really has no bearing on what happens on the field. I just think it is a joke for a mediot to say they kiss the Patriots ass. They just perpetrate myths that the ESPN sheeple eat up.

Yeah I will agree with CBS, Phil Simms pretty much ballwashes Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, even I won't deny that.

Speaking of Simms,

someone suggested on DBSForums in January that he was devastated when New England lost the Super Bowl, even though one needs to realize the team they lost to was the team Simms played for his ENTIRE CAREER!

I think Simms would have preferred to root for the team he was with from start to finish.

I know it's early to determine for Cassel but I gotta be honest - I was watching that BMW sports wrapup show on Channel 7 in Boston the night after the Pats beat the Jets, and the guys were all pretty arrogant and disrespectful about beating the "lowly Jets" and couldn't believe that people thought they (Pats) were underdogs. They went on to say that their D was great and beating the Jets should have been expected - and also that it should be an easy win over Miami the next week.

All I'm saying is that they had no problem summarizing down to the one game that Cassel beat the Jets with to say that the Pats were still the team to beat and they were still going to take the division. I didn't watch that wrap up show after they got beat by the Dolphins, but I have to believe it was a bit more muted. I mean, they really gave absolutely no respect to the Jets and perhaps that's fine, but then what are you going to expect as far as reactions from other teams? Maybe it's jumping the gun to say that Cassel sucks at this point, but it is no less valid than the gun jumping that the Pats' press thought of their team after they beat the lowly Jets by 9 points.

This is not counting one rushing TD from Russel.

Now i was not poking fun at the Pats. These stats for both Qb's are not stellar by any means. I will say this though i will take RUSSEL any day! The team he is on is not good by any means and he has done way better when you look at these things! Raiders no pass blocking!! New England pro bowl Lineman!! Raiders no wide receivers! New england Randy and the little white guy. Not counting the TE!!

Oh yea and a person keeps trying to say Russel is fat? Well he has less sacks with no Offensive line!! I would have to say the other guy maybe does not have the genetics that Russel has.

cassel sucks. deal with it like everyone else. when my dolphins suck i deal with it. i don't blindly defend them. Even though they beat the hell out of the pats last week they still have to prove a lot more than that to be able to say they don't suck that much anymore. Again your quarterback sucks but so do most of the qb backups in the league. Pats need to see who else is available out there. You wouldn't want to give chris sims a shot? If cassel proves me wrong after a few games I'll be the first one here to eat my own words and give you recognition for having faith in him but he really hasn't showed me anything yet.

I mentioned they should bring in Simms awhile back, but I think he signed with someone now ...

WTF???

Bill,

I previously mentioned that Sterling Sharpe is, IMO, one of the biggest examples of 'cut down in the prime of his career.'

I ask you this:

How great would he have become with a healthy you-know-who in his prime?
