Summary: Ocean's Eleven improves on 1960's Rat Pack original with supernova casting, a slickly updated plot, and Steven Soderbergh's graceful touch behind the camera. Soderbergh reportedly relished the opportunity "to make a movie that has no desire except to give pleasure from beginning to end," and he succeeds on those terms, blessed by the casting of George Clooney as Danny Ocean, the title role originated by Frank Sinatra. Fresh out of jail, Ocean masterminds a plot to steal $163 million from the seemingly impervious vault of Las Vegas's Bellagio casino, not just for the money but to win his ex-wife (Julia Roberts) back from the casino's ruthless owner (Andy Garcia). Soderbergh doesn't scrimp on the caper's comically intricate strategy, but he finds greater joy in assembling a stellar team (including Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and Carl Reiner) and indulging their strengths as actors. The result is a film that's as smooth as a silk suit and just as stylish. --Jeff Shannon

Will check it out to see if it's real or pretend HD as TNT is known to broadcast and call it HD. The British Open was listed as HD but was really SD Widescreen. What they do in the name of HDTV is barbarious. It is like broadcasting an AM quality radio program on an FM carrier and calling it FM. We'll see.

Sean,

I don't recall when it was, but it looked exactly like TNT's "stretch-o-vision" to me. When it panned, you could see the globe/stretchy effect on the edges. I couldn't continue watching it. I have the DVD and I would much rather watch that.

I do not know at what time you watched but it could be true that the one you watched was not HD. They have various showing of the movie starting on Friday. I saw the one on Friday night at around 10pm and it was HD. The same happened with Lethal Weapon 4. There was one version that was not HD but the one on Sunday afternoon was.

I see. Then I will pose the question: Why do they have 2 different versions? How do I know which one to watch? This is one of my favorite movies and I'd like to see it in True Glorious HD. Will it come on in true HD again?

Don't know the answer to your question(s). I myself missed Lethal Weapon 4 the first time because it was stretched and I ignored it. Only did I give it a new chance on Sunday afternoon because I happened to catch Lethal Weapon 2 which had two different versions as well. Luck I guess. I wish TNT would have an HD schedule. Besides not having one, they are not doing us a favor either by playing two different versions of the same movie.

I was watching this on sunday night...and it looked like HD to me. If it wasnt TNT sure does a good job with their stretch.
