I got my first Directivo on 12/23.
They said it might take up to 48 hours to download local channels to it. After 48 hours the channel banner would show up but no feed. So I called Direct. We tried a couple of things but nothing worked. So they were going to send a tech out. I hung up & started playing with the Tivo. I made it call out & download whatever then I reset it & presto I had locals. Happy since then.
Friday I did some work in my attic. While running my saw & my trucks block heater at the same on the back of the wall my TV is on I popped a circut breaker. (I know, I know. Don't ask why my house is wired with the garage not totally seperate). Anyway I reset Tivo & either I didn't notice locals not there or I didn't watch them. The next day I moved things around in the attic. My installer didn't run my wires up there the way I like them so I mounted my multiswitch & ran my wires up out of my way. A couple of times I disconnected my sat lines to my Tivo.
Now the weird part. Not only do I have not have locals now, but when I would push my Live Tv button it would bring up the guide instead of switch channels!
I restarted my Tivo thru the remote. My guide works as it should be even after the calling out trick no locals. So do I have to wait 48 hours again? That seems odd.
Any advice?

When the live tv button brings up the guide it is because the tivo is set for only one tuner. Sometimes this happens temporarily when the tivo is just reset, but usually corrects itself or a guided setup must be done.

are your locals at 72 degrees?

yes I think 72° is correct. Does that make a difference as far as loading them go ?

Run the autoconfig for multiswitch and sat detection. When you blew the circuit, it most likely caused it to lose its settings. Power outages and occasionally resets do this.

The autoconfig will pick up the 72 again.

To run the autoconfig:
1. Messages and setup
2. recorder and phone setup
3. satellite dish setup
4. auto detect satellite information

This may take about 10-15 minutes to complete.

I tried to do the same thing I'd done before a couple of times again. Checked all my connections etc.
Like I said both of my D10's get locals. On my DTivo it shows the scroll line at the bottom & the channel banner on top. All the locals are in my guide too. Everything else works fine. I was going to do the auto configure but my screen said did not do that unless Direct advises me to. So I just did the basic guided setup & restart. It worked before, but won't work now.

Something else really weird...
when I hit info on the local news it says from 1953 on one & 1970 on the other ! :shocked

You need to run the autoconfig.

Its the only way to pick up the 72.

I work at DTV (tier 2 tech), and if you called and asked me what was going on, I would walk you through the auto config ;).

The message is just so people dont say "Hmm whats this" and mess something up. But the autoconfig, will not mess anything up. All it does it automatically detects your switch and satelite(s).

If you still arent sure, then run a signal meter test. If you cant select the 72 satelite, it isnt configured right, and you need the autoconfig. It wont hurt anything, I assure you.

1. Directv button
2. Messages and setup
3. recorder and phone setup
4. satelite dish setup
5. test signal strength
6. okay test or reset satelite now

Use the up arrow to get to the satelite selection, then use left/right to cycle thru them. If you dont see 72.5 in there, run the autoconfig. Its the only way to pick up that satelite.

Thanks!

That got them back on.

It's strange though. I ran autoconfig & it showed the multiswitch & sat 101° & Sat 72.5°. So I was like Ok, there it is !!! The next step is where it acquires info from system where the little colored dots fill in. I ran it 3 times & all 3 times it said not all info could be acquired (or something to that effect) & maybe some channels won't be there. So checked and locals and they were there :) I checked the other channels & they would not show up at first. After leaving the channel ESPN classic sit for 5 or 6 seconds now they all seem to be there. I think I'm good to go after using your advice. Just wondering why I got an error though? Eveything seems OK.

Yeah... sometimes that error pops up, its just a glitch in the tivo software. Usually if you just select the option to fix the problem later, it fills in within 30 minutes.

Glad you got it working =)
