It's been a while...

1. I love the addition of Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley to the CBS set. Some new blood was badly needed.

2. Jay Bilas needs to calm down about VCU and UAB. He was right but they spent way too much of the show talking about it.

3. Hate to say it, but I seemed to be the only person around here right after the trade saying Carmelo does not make the Knicks conference contenders. I hate being right so often...

4. So many amazing finishes over the weekend I think I lost track, but the Va Tech-Florida State game had to be the most amazing of all. The basket is good, State wins, Seth Greenberg looks as crushed as any coach I have ever seen on the sidelines. They show the replay and the Florida State player BARELY got off the winning shot in time...but wait, the referees overturn it, the shot is no good...the Hokies win! Then Tech doesn't make the tournament anyway. Goodness gracious.

5. I think I am going to watch the Tuesday/Wednesday games this time. In the past I haven't watched the play in game.

6. As much as I love March Madness, though, Ranger games still take precedence for me. Always will.

7. Holy smokes what a scary hit by Zdeno Chara on Max Pacioretty, pushing his head into the place where the boards begin. The guy is seriously injured, but I think no suspension was the correct call. Hockey is a vicious sport, hits like that will happen.

8. The Heat need an on-ball defender and a big who plays like a big. Miller and Bibby do not fit the bill.

9. I am really disappointed in Jim Tressel. I know many coaches have done much worse, but I just expected more out of him.

10. I am not in love with the idea of so many NCAA teams playing so close to home. Notre Dame in Chicago, North Carolina in Greensboro, etc. I know first and second round games have had some bad attendance, but I don't like giving teams an advantage.

11. Well if St John's gets past their bad draw of Gonzaga, I think BYU could be a vulnerable three seed, and I'd love to take my chances against a two seed like Florida. And we've already beaten the number one seed, Pitt. Losing DJ Kennedy, however, changes everything. Some seriously bad luck there...gonna miss him big time.

12. And how about Utah State, 30-3, getting a 12 seed...a 12 seed? Seriously? Oh, and by the way, turns out I've been lying all along...my cousin is not a cheerleader, she's an Aggiette. She set me straight over the weekend. It means she's on the dance team, but she's still on the sidelines for basketball games cheering, so...too complicated for my little Italian brain!

13. Just under ten weeks until the wedding. We're actually in somewhat of a lull regarding preparations. It will pick up again later this month. The only thing we've done recently is book our honeymoon...Paris. Ooh la-la. He voted Australia, but I'm taking no chances of bumping into the lunatic Australians we watched the Ohio State Rose Bowl game with when we were in Cabo. Seeing them again someday? OK. On our honeymoon? I think not.

14. Looks like it could be a slow start out of the gate for the Yankees...so much was predicated on them signing Cliff Lee. They are really going to need some surprises in the pitching staff to remain competitive with Boston until they are able to make a trade for a big time starter.

15. Didn't you used to be Joba Chamberlain?

16. Quick, who hit the foul fly ball to Bartman? You have to answer in three seconds...no googling! Hint...he's a current New York Met, although many Met fans wish he wasn't. Around here he's known for doing something much more infamous...WHILE he was a Met.

17. So let's see...there could be no NFL this Fall, and the NBA agreement is also expiring. Wow.

18. Weird how on the Selection show Greg Gumbel was saying things like 'and the Washington Huskies find out they're in the tournament' as they show the team cheering. You would think the Pac-10 tournament championship might have given them a clue that they had a pretty good chance to make it.

19. I'm already bored with the NFL labor negotiations. Lot of rhetoric both in the media and on this forum.

20. Let's go Visigoths!

They are part of the CBS family since they work on TNT

2. Jay Bilas needs to calm down about VCU and UAB. He was right but they spent way too much of the show talking about it.

Yes he does

3. Hate to say it, but I seemed to be the only person around here right after the trade saying Carmelo does not make the Knicks conference contenders. I hate being right so often... Right?

The season isn't over yet. I don't know if he makes them better or not, but for you to say you are right is just plain not true. At least not yet.

5. I think I am going to watch the Tuesday/Wednesday games this time. In the past I haven't watched the play in game.

I didn't watch them before either, but now it is teams worth watching for 2 of the games.

9. I am really disappointed in Jim Tressel. I know many coaches have done much worse, but I just expected more out of him.

I think everybody expected more of him too.

10. I am not in love with the idea of so many NCAA teams playing so close to home. Notre Dame in Chicago, North Carolina in Greensboro, etc. I know first and second round games have had some bad attendance, but I don't like giving teams an advantage.

It has always been that way, so fans don't have far to travel to go see their games.

Wouldn't it be funny if they take a trip to Paris as well. LOL

Going to be one boring fall/winter

18. Weird how on the Selection show Greg Gumbel was saying things like 'and the Washington Huskies find out they're in the tournament' as they show the team cheering. You would think the Pac-10 tournament championship might have given them a clue that they had a pretty good chance to make it.

He did that to a couple of the teams.

19. I'm already bored with the NFL labor negotiations. Lot of rhetoric both in the media and on this forum.

ME TOO!!!

Yes Hockey is a violent sport, that said, I don't have a problem with the hit, UNLESS it was determined to be INTENTIONAL, which theres really no way to determine.

9. I am really disappointed in Jim Tressel. I know many coaches have done much worse, but I just expected more out of him.

Me too.
Of course I expect more out of the players too, without thier screw ups, none of this would have happened and Tressel wouldn't be under fire.

Congrats, keep us informed of your plans, however you know you should have made your honeymoon over the New Years week, so you could spend it watching the Buckeyes .... oh wait, they might not have any games to play in over the holidays.

14. Looks like it could be a slow start out of the gate for the Yankees...so much was predicated on them signing Cliff Lee. They are really going to need some surprises in the pitching staff to remain competitive with Boston until they are able to make a trade for a big time starter.

Yankees NEVER get out to a fast start, they always start slowly, by the beginning of June I write them off and they ALWAYS come back to get into the playoffs.

15. Didn't you used to be Joba Chamberlain?
Hmmmm, where am I now, I use to be the next GREAT thing in Pinstripes !

17. So let's see...there could be no NFL this Fall, and the NBA agreement is also expiring. Wow.
I will spend it watching College football, NASCAR and the NHL should get a boost from it IF it come about that the NFL doesn't play .... I still think they will get it worked out and not miss any games.

What do they know about college basketball? I kind of liked the seriousness of Greg Gumble and the rest of the crew. Barkely and The Jet will just make fun of eachother back and forth and take away from the game at hand.

3. Hate to say it, but I seemed to be the only person around here right after the trade saying Carmelo does not make the Knicks conference contenders. I hate being right so often...
I also said the Nets were the team to make out better despite all the hype surrounding 'Melo and the Knicks.

Any chance you saw the MAC Championship? In OT, Akron squeaked one out over rival Kent State in front of a raucous Cleveland crowd. It was such a heated contest, the assistant coaches of each team were scuffling with eachother after the game.

5. I think I am going to watch the Tuesday/Wednesday games this time. In the past I haven't watched the play in game.
This might create more confusion when filling out the brackets. Not in favor of the additional 2 play-in games. At all.

7. Holy smokes what a scary hit by Zdeno Chara on Max Pacioretty, pushing his head into the place where the boards begin. The guy is seriously injured, but I think no suspension was the correct call. Hockey is a vicious sport, hits like that will happen.
I agree. The injury resulted is unfortunate. Chara didn't do this on purpose though. It was an accident.

8. The Heat need an on-ball defender and a big who plays like a big. Miller and Bibby do not fit the bill. Or they need to utilize the long necked velociraptor (Bosh) like a big that he is.

10. I am not in love with the idea of so many NCAA teams playing so close to home. Notre Dame in Chicago, North Carolina in Greensboro, etc. I know first and second round games have had some bad attendance, but I don't like giving teams an advantage. At the end of the day, these kids are still in school. Being closer to home with less travel is probably better in terms of logistics.

On our honeymoon? I think not. Exciting! I've been meaning to visit France. Paris, Brittany and Provence are all on my list.

17. So let's see...there could be no NFL this Fall, and the NBA agreement is also expiring. Wow. This is where hockey steps in to save the sports world.

19. I'm already bored with the NFL labor negotiations. Lot of rhetoric both in the media and on this forum.
Me too. Fans don't want to hear about millionaires arguing with billionaires. Just get the contract done and let's get back to the game already!

ALL hockey hits are intentional!!!

As Joe Benigno says...'Oh the pain'

Hmmmm, where am I now, I use to be the next GREAT thing in Pinstripes !

Now it's catchers Jesus Montero, Gaby Sanchez and Austin Romine, and pitchers Dellin Betances and Manny Banuelos on the horizon. I firmly believe part of the fault lies with Joba, and part lies with the Yankees with their bullpen/starting pitcher shuffle they put Joba through.

Nice win over the Boss-tones last night

I did! Wild game...is that the one where one team was celebrating and wound up stepping on a guy from the other team who was laying on his back because they just lost? That started a fight.

This might create more confusion when filling out the brackets. Not in favor of the additional 2 play-in games. At all.

I could not possibly care less about brackets. For me, the more basketball, the better.

Or they need to utilize the long necked velociraptor (Bosh) like a big that he is.

Bosh is not a true big.

At the end of the day, these kids are still in school. Being closer to home with less travel is probably better in terms of logistics.

I guess. That logic is not applied very often, however.

I like Barkley on TNT, but either he was under the weather or was told to tone it down on the big network, because he definitely wasn't his usual entertaining self.

He was turrrrible!

Give him and Kenny Smith time, they'll warm up to their new surroundings, and get back to what they do best.

I actually am curious as to how much he follows college basketball. I love him on TNT, but sometimes he seems rather clueless about things in the NBA.

I agree with this too.

I think if Mariono decided to hang it up, they would move Jaba to the Closer role permanently and he could settle in on ONE job.

2 - Part of both CBS' and ESPN's love affair with the Big East and to a lesser extent the Big 10. They cannot accept that finishing 9th in anything just proves you are a loser. Second in CUSA or the Colonial is far more significant. As Billy Packer said 25 years ago "Look at all the good schools we lost to is not a resume, because the key word is "lose".

4 - Virginia Tech has been hosed by the committee for five years.

5 - Clemson/UAB got hosed. 9:00 pm start on Tuesday night in Ohio followed by a 12 noon start in Florida on Thursday. Criminal. Notice that both of the serious playin winners are sent to play the pet conference alsorans. As to the other two playins, those going to play 16, there simply needs to be a standard for being Div I that will push some of these leagues down to Div II, where they could compete.

9 - Then you have not been paying attention. The guy was cheating 20 years ago at YSU. Total trail of slime thoughout his career. Still thinks, as does OSU management, that he can walk. Probably will.

10 - Money.

19 - Yes. I do think this will be a long one, though.
