Time left wrong

I have been noticing lately when checking the time left that it is completely wrong when watching a recorded program.

Is this happening on a completed recording or while the recording is active?

I've seen that intermittently. If you want time errors, try writing an EHD. For an hour movie it starts with 100's of hours but in about a a minute it comes down to some reasonable number of minutes--it should be 10 to 20 times the play time. It shouldn't "scare" you.
