...and I have no power now for my 811. :D

By that I mean, I can't get my 811 to power up! I've had it since 10/14/04. It was working this AM, but this afternoon, no joy.

Called Dish tech support. Nothing new there, so they are to send me out a new 811 tomorrow by two day shipping.

I mentioned to the tech, that if the receiver wasn't here within the week, that the wife, said pull it, and install "D"! What HD content we have, she loves. Got to have you're daily fix of HD, you know.

Update: Just as I was composing this post, the unit powered up by itself. After switching from cable to satellite via the tv remote so as I can access the dish service. The 811 seems to be taken over by some alien force. It's scrolling through the tv guide by itself, selecting channels at random, then going back to the tv guide!

...help send an exorcist!

A power supply problem could cause that. Just wait for your new 811 and sent the "possessed" one back to DISH.

The 811 is also a Dish Pro UHF remote receiver could someone within 150 ft have a DISH system that is now controlling your receiver. Change the remote address on your receiver to cure this problem. :)

As strange as this sounds, a neighbor may have changed his remote and receiver address - and, in the process, changed your receiver address, too.

That could explain why your unit wouldn't power up. Can you check your info screen from the front panel? See what address is there - if you've never changed your remote address, it should be at the default address 1. If it's not, change your remote to match the displayed address (so you can control your 811 - and have a little fun with your neighbor's for a while). Then change 'em to a new address.

That is apparently the problem. Just this afternoon, my neighbor to the west of me had a new Widescreen screen installed, along with Dish Service. Wouldn't you know it, he's got an 811.

After discussing the problem that I was having with him, he mentioned that his tv was doing the same as mine. So, I had him call dish and report his problem. Come to find out, his remote was set to the same as mine. Dish walk him though the procedure to change his remote address.

Seems so far, that the problem is solved...but I ain't going to call dish till tomorrow and perhaps then I may cancel the new incoming receiver.

..thanks for the help.

Tim Taylor did not leave town..... at least not my friend Tim. FYI, my friends name is Tim Taylor and his wife's name is Jill. I just had to throw that in, it always cracks me up. BTW, he is a mortician.
