thought you should know...

What in the hell makes you think these practices are limited to just Dish??? Go work for a cell phone call center and you'll find out. If Dish (and Direct!!!) are like Verizon and ATT, employees are encouraged to keep to a script, and they also get incentives for pushing more expensive equippment and packages.

Hear hear. And I might add that I personally would have gone without Platinum when it became a free add-on, might have lost out on the HD Free for Life (?), and I would be missing out on all those new HD channels on 72.7, had I not been following this forum carefully.

Lots of nuggets here that Dish just doesn't tell you about.

Absolutely! I didn't have to do anything for HD free for life, but it really galled me when I found out I shouldn't have been paying $20.00 a month for HD and Platinum. Dish got at least $60.00 out of me before I got it fixed and even though I received 3 months free HBO and Showtime, so did just about everyone who asked for it, sub or new sub so it wasn't much of a bone.
This forum rocks, not only is everyone helpful but the "inside" info is great!

btw, i am not a troll. and i am not disgruntled, yet. annoyed, bothered, that i am. and what is with all the buttholes who feel like flaming thread after thread?

thanks all for those who do appreciate the info. if there are any more direct questions feel free to ask as i feel free to spill the beans.

We know most of what was said is true because Scott posted all the information when the OP said he found out.

If you were a regular reader of this board you knew that you could get HD+Plat for $10 last year by deleting and re adding the package. We also knew that Dish would never do it for you.

We also heard about the outrageous box fees before Dish announced them, we knew for months that people signing up would get hit with the fees.

One thing is very clear: Dish is out to make money, do not fool yourself into thinking they will give up money voluntarily. This is true of almost any company, it should not surprise you that Dish is the same.

You hit the nail on the head, "if you were/are a regular reader of this board..."

What about all those that don't read this board? Was charging some subs for something they could get at half the price, if they knew about it, ethical. I often wonder if it didn't border on being deceptive and possibly illegal? WHat about adding HD channels that many folks can't receive because they aren't on EA? or WA? Yes board members know and can decide to rectify their situation if they choose, but there are lots of folks who have no idea they are paying for, 16(?) new channels that they can't receive. Is this not deceptive and possibly illegal? I don't know but it seems that it should be. Yes many companies do this stuff, but it doesn't make it right...I would be more apt to forgive Dish for not telling me about the new HD channels and that I couldn't receive them without a dish upgrade if they had been honest about the change in pricing for HD plus platinum....

Just my $0.02

Lets see what do we know? tulsa agent has worked for directv in the past, they don't want the free dish service so they actually know how a dish system works, we know they like tvone, yeah that about narrows it down, call in the weasel to root them out!

Shouldn't be too hard to narrow down the loyalty agent who works in Tulsa call center and is not a dish subscriber (85% are) and of those remaining 15%, which one has DirecTV on their application. Also, if Tulsa is a 24 hour call center, this agent also is not likely at work during midnight or at 10:23am today.

Also, dish has a grandfathering policy and so if you have platinum and hd billed separately, they're not gonna change that unless you make the changes.

What I mean by locking out is I just don't add them to my favorite list. I never knew they were there until I saw a thread on here.

that's why i don't use favorites. you never know what channels have been added. i have asked them to set it up so new channels can be automatically added to favorites if you want it that way. so far no luck. but you never know what tomorrow might bring

I hear the sound of some feet scampering! ;)

Umm... you do know who develops the DishNetwork uplink report tool right? ;)

For others...Favorites work great if you just browse the threads here and/or the uplink center forum. Or plan B, when you are bored on the weekend flip it to All HD and scan through for something new.

High my name is unemployed. The reason being I have been caught in a case of "breach of contract". You have just done that and I hope youcan get a job back a D* before you are found out. And BTW E* would do the same if they catch you making disparaging remarks about them as well. I will lay you odds that the contract you signed has that in the agreements that area attached to it.

yeah, the paper work says a lot of things. and as for figuring me out, good luck. ever think i could be on my phone posting these while at work? so the times mean nothing.

Time after time I've seen this happen. On forums, boards, usenet (back in the day), wherever. Whenever an employee posts confidential information, or casts the company in a bad light, they are found out and summarily fired - for cause.

You are not anonymous on the net. You will leave tracks and/or reveal just enough to single yourself out. It will happen.

This firing is not illegal, even if you are not in an 'at will' state. Check what you signed when you hired on. Confidential information is just that. And nobody is going to tolerate a subordinate publicly bad-mouthing the boss/company.

Tulsa, please do not think I'm flaming you. And don't think I'm a Dish fanboy, there are a number of things on which Dish and I don't agree. I'm just trying to give you some good advise. For you own sake , for your job's sake, STFU :o and let the name tulsa agent die.

Hey, all I'm saying is if their employer is that scrupulous, why in the heck are they continuing to work for them?

Hi my nam is Goa.........

Nope not me... Why is it when anyone posts something that isnt pro dish network you guys just have to assume that its me....... Guys the grass isnt as green at dish like how you diehards think it is. Face the fact the company has serious issues to contend with!

Infact, if I was offered a job as dish today, I would take it, and I would do everything in my power to make customers happy, as well as give them what they wanted given the ability to do so. I belive more in dish than many of you think... All you see is the bitching, and you dont look past why im bitching and what the true reasoning behind it. But then again some of you just dont give two rats you know what's and just dont care no matter what the reasoning is.

What's taking so long

kudos for having the guts to speak out. I get absolutely annoyed by companies that use pressure tactics and press hidden charges on customers... these include credit card companies, dish/directv, cable providers, sirius/xm, cell phone providers like verizon and FIOS, and virtually any service where you get billed by the month. These are the same companies that think jacking up commercial volumes is going to accomplish something positive. I should be able to not have to check my bill every month and worry about hidden charges or have to call up the call center and listen to someone who can't speak english have to reverse a charge that shouldn't be there.

I also dislike companies which make their employees read from a script and push extra product features where I have to say no 4 times before they finally give in (example, credit card fraud protection programs when calling to activate a card) , and companies that make their employees nag you when you are in the stores, like Best Buy and Lowes. Just go away and leave me to shop unless I ask you a question! Of course I"m sure some people like this sort of stuff. :)

I can never even find an "associate" when I need one in Lowes and you get nagged.
