Thinking of trying out Dish

Instead of 2 Hoppers you might consider a Super Joey that will add 2 tuners to the Hoppers 3 for a total of 5 available.
Will this configuration support four independent viewing sessions (and not run into the concurrent client limit)?

Blockbuster isn't included in any package last I checked. It is part of the 3 months of promo swag but after that, you pay for it. Make sure you're not confusing the BBHME barker channel with the Blockbuster pack.

Whoops, you are right, I was paying extra for Blockbuster. I was thinking about the Encore channels that come with A250...

Another good reason for an extra Hopper, it is independent of the other Hopper, Super Joey is not, so if there was something wrong with one of your Hoppers, you still have an extra and something to watch.

What he said!

Top 250 not as good of package as it used to be. Many channels that used to only be in the 250 is now in the 200. The movie channels that are included are pretty much worthless. IMO.

also good is the hopper with sling is bluetooth enabled means you can use any two devices such as a bluetooth headphones and a vizo or any other bluetooth soundbar at the same time it is the only company that has bluetooth in their receivers.or now you can bluetooth your joeys with a usb bluetooth adapter which dish currently sells on their website i think for $30 dollars.

Since we are throwing out cool features to trump DTV, then I will mention that as Google upgraded its platform for Youtube, that was removed from DTV, with an unlikely return, whereas Dish just recently added the Netflix app, so one device to view. That said, you can also transfer recordings from your HWS to a mobile device or tablet, if you have little ones and go on car vacations(or to the bank with them).

Good point Chad, we'd forgot to mention the Sling and transfer features. Unless they have made great strides, DirecTV's app for their devices is woefully inadequate when compared to the Dish Anywhere app. Also, unless it has improved, the GenieGo (formerly Nomad) is a piece of crap compared to Sling.

We all missed the obvious question here. How many TVs in total? I know you mentioned 4 rooms, but if all 4 rooms have 2 TVs

Also one of us would be happy to give you a referral code to save you $50 on your first bill.

Acually I have 5 rooms, I'm thinking about doing 2 hoppers 2 joeys and a 211k.
I'm told that is supported but the 211k I may have to buy.

I'm going to call Dish today.
Thanks.
My mother live in the downstairs apartment and I'm not going to bother her with a hopper, or a Joey.

Yes, you would have to buy the 211K. And if and when you activate it, tell them you are using it for tailgating. And just to be sure you are aware, the 211 would be a complete, independent room, and would require a $40.00 one time charge if you would want to be able to hook up an EHD for recording.

I don't want to intermingle our tuners when both my daughters will be recording like crazy. Not to mention my wife.. lol

The credits for both the giver and the getter of a referral are now $5 times 10 mos.

I didn't see it mentioned perhaps missed it.
1. Check to be sure you are getting the local channels you expect. Not often, but sometimes the locals DISH says you get can be different than what Cable gives, as Direct TV can be.

2. The Sports RSN's are not in HD full time, normally only for Pro games and some of their pre-games and post games shows. Reruns of games are not in HD. Not too often but sometimes games are joined in progress in HD, and even more rare now but games may not be in HD at all on a particular day.

3. If you encounter problems I highly suggest using the online DISH Csr's here (using the acronym DIRT) for help and not the phone CSR's.

4. I have had DISH from very shortly after they started service in the 90's, so obviously I am happy with it. (I don't have the Hopper system I am happy with individual receivers for each room so I can't comment on that equipment.

And speaking of local channels, if you get Over The Air signal using an antenna you can buy an OTA module for the Hopper. That adds another tuner to the Hopper you can use for viewing and recording OTA channels. , The channels show in the Electronic Program Guide too although some channels are missing show descriptions.
