Hello All:
I presently have Direct TV and have had it for years.. I got a call from SBC (my phone and Internet ) to get their Dish set up. 1 month free with a DVR and 3 more rooms installed free.. Well I have contacted Direct TV trying to get them to match the offer. The do not come close, the keep saying that their DVR is free after a rebate. New customers get an instant rebate!! I would like to know from all of you out there, is the Dish a good move or should I stay with Direct TV.. It looks to me like the Dish may be Little cheaper..
Please let me know..
Thanks:

Did you call D* retention or just the regular phone #? If you've always paid on time etc. retention seems to take good care of existing customers. I bought our first HDTV last May and there was a substantial discount on the HD box at the time plus 2 free sd boxes, a new installed free 3 lnb dish and free new cables run to 2 rooms plus other cable work free. Other than the portion of the HD box I had to pay for I've NEVER had to pay for any work or equipment I've requested from D*. As to switching to E* that's your choice. Compare the two and then make a decision! I have a 1 year commitment with D* which ends this May and I 'm going to hang with D* after that for awhile at least. The thing that bothers me about E* is that while they would take good care of me on initial sigup when it comes time to upgrade a stb they don't seem to want to even let existing customers upgrade boxes at all without a major hassle or a huge cost. We all have to weigh the pluses and minus's and I may go with E* down the road sometime. Almost forgot, both your deal offers included a free DVR and one has a rebate. The rebate wouldn't be a deal breaker for me! My son got a DVR from D* 3 months ago and received the rebate check in 6 weeks. Good luck with whatever you do.

I install for both and I like dish better, but that is me. You need to figure out what channels you watch most often and see if dish carries those channels. If so switch if you like. Both Direct and Dish carry the same channels for the most part but there are differences.
