NBC owned shop at home and Comcast owns qvc

Shop At Home was apparently a Scripps Network until it's takeover by Jewelry Television and QVC is a Liberty Interactive Group channel.

ShopNBC is a longtime NBCU property that recently rebranded as ShopHQ.

Comcast Did own QVC..wheather or not they still do is another matter
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QVC

On February 2, 1995, Comcast purchased a majority shareholder stake in QVC, Inc., taking control of the corporation. That year, QVC kicked off the "Quest for America's Best: 50 in 50 Tour," a 50-week nationwide product search. QVC.com was started in 1996 as iQVC.[6]

DirecTV dumped G4 a long time before that announcement. I am sure that doing so had some effect on the ratings. Dish offered it in HD and recently dropped it after the news was known.

It is kind of like MTV. The "M" stands for music, but they have everything but music on 24/7. They should rename it "iTV". The "I" would stand for IDIOT.

MTV dropped what it stood for a long time ago (wiki says early 2010). The MTV now doesnt mean anything

This is one channel I wish dish could drop as well. Get it outtaa here!

Dave Schwartz that previously worked at the weather channel will be working for a new weather channel set to launch October 2014. It will be called Network Weather. I remember a post on here earlier this year in regards to a very goofy weatherman named Mark Mathis that had some of his goofyness on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=mark+mathis&sm=3

News Story about Network Weather: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/new-network-weather-coverage-planned-220165381.html

I am surprised that The Weather Channel did not launch another weather channel offering weather 24/7 in addition to the weather stories that they have on the regular channel.

Do we really need The Weather Channel 2?

Add myself to the list of people that like WeatherNation. If DirecTV drops The Weather Channel, it wouldn't bother me. Got WeatherNation on TV and weather apps on my phone and iPad.

the weather channel does have weather scan that is basally local on the 8s 24/7 dish has it in a few areas covering a few city's on each channel.

No the La Times link says nothing about the weather mix channel.

Beside the LA Times article was posted after I posted my "rumor"

That's why I never go to that other site anymore. Satguys is ten times better. And Scott, you never (I don't think) play the corporate games like they do.

It's super annoying when I go to TWC and no weather whatsoever but reality show at that moment, unless it's a storm brewing, So you see why no one wants TWC anymore other than older folks or weather enthusiast, And then switched to WeatherNation and they have weather and in my area too, So how many times am I gonna say it DROP TWC DIRECTV.

NBC/Comcast are really greedy mofos if they want more money for little weather, IMO just switch the popup app on the WeatherNation channel for local forecast.

the channel past MTV long ago as one of those that went from useful/somewhat useful to 110% garbage. I get better weather and forecast on my phone and from the net.

Good! The Weather Channel SUCKS! Their endless commercials and idiotic naming of winter storms that the NWS does not even recognize? Hurcules? Ion? What does it take to get a "winter storm name?" 3 inches of snow over 500 miles? Huh? Dumb. How about the fact they have some dramas on there so often now? What happened to their severe reports from the field? Gone! NBC/Comcast has really mucked up what used to be an informative and useful channel.

I agree. Just make the DVR'd local weather info pop up on Weather Nation and I'd be fine with that.
