Conference Championship Thoughts
1. It looked like the New York Jets "super bowl" was last week against the Pats. They gave everything they had both emotionally and physically the week before and came out flat to start the game against Pit. Kind of surprised in how lopsided this game was for a half.
2. Anyone who questions Jay Cutler's toughness should really wait and see what the injury actually is before jumping to conclusions. And furthermore, it's easy for you to say that he's a wimp from the comfort of your couch. Have you ever suited up for an NFL game? Have you ever experienced an injury and played with one like Cutlers? No one can judge Cutler except for himself.
3. The Packers/ Bears game was exactly like any great divisional rivalry game should be. U-G-L-Y.
4. Out goes another Steeler. O-Lineman (Pouncey) was on the sidelines in crutches. Three of their top linemen are now out. At some point this has to catch up to them, right? It almost did last night when the idiot replacement center botched the snap that led to a safety....
5. Speaking of which. The series previous when the Jets had the ball at the goal line; what on earth kind of playcalling was that?! That was the game right there! Shonn Greene should've been called to run 4 straight times. Instead, his number was only called only once. On first down! Then, Sanchez barely got a play in on time from the sidelines and looked rushed on 2nd down. It turned into a wasted down. On third, an obvious pass protection defensive set by Pittsburgh that would've been a perfect down to audible a run, they threw unsuccessively. Then on 4th, with Pittsburgh stacking the line, they run their small, aging RB straight up the middle? Apparently Marty's son takes his unimaginative play-calling after his pops.
6. I have to admit, I got a good chuckle when BJ Raji intercepted that ball and followed it up with a dance. Love when the big boys get to have fun.
7. I bet Mrs. Ryan got no foot action on Sunday night. Did you see Rob smash his headphones to bits after Ben thew for that first down on 3rd and long? My oh my!
8. Speaking of which. Ballsey call on the Steelers part on that last series. Most teams proclaim they "play to win the game". The Stools actually did that. 90% of the league would've run the ball on every play to take as much time off the clock before punting it to their opponent and hoping for the best from their defense. The Steelers wanted to win the game with the ball remaining in their hands at the end of the game. As much as it pains me to say it, you have to respect that mentality.
9. In the postgame press-conference, Aaron Rodgers was asked how it felt to go to the Super Bowl. His response: "I'm just happy that the veterans, Donald Driver and Charles Woodson finally get a chance to go". A Green Bay QB who's unselfish and thinks of others first? My oh my! How quickly this kid has surpassed the shadow of a legend. Mind you, Aaron Rodgers still has plenty of years to surpass the accomplishments of Brett, but what we are seeing right now leads me to believe he has what it takes to lead this team to much more glory.
10. Everyone on here was proclaiming an "all-green" Super Bowl. Instead, we'll have to settle for an "all-yellow" Super Bowl. Cheese Heads vs. the Bumble Bees. Two of the most historic franchises in the game. A perfect fit for Jerry World's new playground. Can't wait! Just spare me from the Black Eyed Peas halftime show. I'm so sick of that group.
