Heres the thing. I was wondering something. Sometimes, when you watch any sporting event, they pan the crowd. They could be drunk, they could be fighting, they could low cut attire on. When the teams fight or get rowdy, they show the fight and/or the swearing.

But the one thing, nobody shows is when somebody goes on the field. The announcers say "We dont condone that behavior". Yet, the cameras can show women with low cut attire, people fighting/swearing, people who are drunk etc. yet they cant show some idiot going on the field and getting the crap kicked out of them. I mean if anything I would show something like that just to show if people have any ideas of being an idiot, they will get there clock cleaned. I think if people saw something like that, they would think twice about running on the field.

What do you think? Am I reading too much into this?

The reason they do not show that person on the field, is they get their picture on TV. If other people saw them getting their 30 seconds on TV, others would do the same. Everyone wants their "30 seconds of FAME", don;t they?

I get what you're saying Mets. The problem is sometimes they just get stopped and escorted off the field, thus getting their few seconds of fame. They need to somehow make it become a few seconds of "shame" every time someone does that. Maybe the networks could digitally impose a dunce hat on their head as they run around, or maybe a little sign that says "Low IQ Alert"...like they do with the first down marker in pro games.

Unfortunatly, in most jurisdictions, the police do not respond with enough force to these idiots. Anyone who runs on a field of play should be beaten to the point of unconsciousness, preferabably suffering life-changing permanent injuries. Often police union rules give the oldest and thus fattest cops the plum job of security at a ballgame and they often are outrun by these idiots for a long time.

Personally, I think if they yell "stop" and you do not, you become a target, at least for a tazer.

Apparently, you haven't seen too many games at Fenway Park. They seem to hire a lot of young, former college football players as security guards, especially for the outfield areas. Here's an example from earlier this season:

They would cause a computer crash doing that, if they panned the crown in Baton Rouge, though :)

(sorry - you walked into that one)

Well, people running on the field are breaking the law. Women wearing low cut attire, or people making stupid faces at the camera because they're drunk, are not. That's the difference.

I saw Morganna (sp?) run onto the field at the Astrodome when I was a kid at an Astros game. This was some point in the early 80s. I, for one, was glad that she wasn't "beaten to the point of unconsciousness."

Yep, they don't care if they get beat up or taken to jail. It's all about getting on TV.

When you think about it, they might be doing the best thing the way it is now - wait and see what happens to the idiot when he runs onto the field, then replay it only if he gets the crappola knocked out of him. For the ones they get off easy, have the local news later post a picture of them in jail sitting next to three big horny looking "sisters". ;)

Possibly, but I was referring to the ones that run on the field. Good one though! :D
