I got mine a year later in Aug 85. Even then everything was open. Scrambling started with HBO 1/1/86. Those were the fun days when you never knew what service would show up on C Band. A lot of short-lived services.

I am currently sitting next to a box filled with old STV magazines from the 80's. When my Mom passed I found them in her attic. Apparently I keep EVERYTHING. LOL...

I look at them with fondness...man what we had back then....
