The Need for SPEED (HD) -- Launches Thursday

I'm getting mad about this, if Dish doesn't get it before Formula one Starts, I'll be a directv guy... this is what I got from a dishnetwork chat

ME: does Dish have SPEEDtv HD yet?
DISH: NO
DISK: due to the sensitive nature of negotiations.... blah blah blah

Maybe it was a hint that they are negotiating or it's just a ... keep listening type of thing

Or, you should just know that by now, we dont find out about new chs or changes until it happens and in some case several days afterwards.

It is wait and see, unless the TV contract is changed the FIA only allows the hd feed for the home country.

Well, the Shootout selection show from Daytona was in HD tonight so I'll have to say today Thursday was the day.

Directv has has speed HD for some time now in "pre-launch" mode.

the official launch day was today 2/7/2008, I have called Dish EVERY DAY since I heard thet SPEED was going to HD, and I have gotten every response from "yeah it will be on".."we are in negotiations with FOX to carry it"..."we have no info on any upcoming HD channels",today I got the negotiation response again, and the CSR filed a programming request saying I am requesting SPEED HD, who knows..but I hope it is before the All-Star race, however I really want to watch the Daytona truck race in HD

I'm not HD yet, but I hope (for you guys who are) that this is turned on in time for the Twins. They are, in my opinion, two of the races that are most fun to watch throughout the entire NASCAR season. I'll be glued to my television set that afternoon (if I can get off of work). If not, I'm sure I'll see the replay.

where did you find it on their site? Because I swear, I will submit 50 a day until I see SPEED HD in my guide! Like I said earlier the CSR filed mine over the phone for me...and get this..SHE WAS AN AMERICAN!!!!!

how can DISH sponser a car costing millions in ad's not show it on HD.....makes no sense.

The problem is that most people watch the races and only a few of us watch the perferial shows. Practice, Qualifying, Race Day, Trackside, ....

So you wonder why they would sponsor a car, but necessarily carry Speed?

Busch Races - all on ESPN
Cup Races - FOX, TNT, ABC, ESPN
Non Points Cup Races - Fox (Shoot Out) 3x on Speed.

Now Dish Might not even be sponsoring any of the Roush cars during those three Speed races.

To get it in time for the Twin's on Thursday would be great but they MUST have it in time for the next Rolex race and ALMS in March. Hopefully that will come to pass.

I believe DircecTV has at least a partial sponsorship with Clint Bowyer's 07 car. They've done a few races a year as a primary sponsor while being a secondary sponsor for the other races. I don't know about being a primary sponsor in '08, but DirecTV is at least a secondary sponsor on the 07 again.

I stand corrected. The 2008 07 car does have DirecTV as a minor sponsor, but I see nowhere where D* is slated to be the primary this year. They do offer HotPass as well.
