WOW!! How can I forget the Reds...??!!! There was no Marlins team when I was growing up in Miami. Alot of kids liked either the Yankees(because they did their spring training in Ft. Lauderdale) or the Orioles(because they played their games at Bobby Maduro Stadium in Miami).

I of course, was different. I LOVED Johnny Bench as a kid growing up. Was the 1st little leaguer to play catcher you one hand behind my back waiting for the pitch. MY Reds Mount Rushmore... Bench, Frank Robinson, Larkin and George Foster.
 
Padres: Tony Gwinn, Trevor Hoffman, Jerry Coleman (broadcaster), ... guess there's only three, unless you count Garvey, who went into the HOF as a Padre. :)

Chargers: Sid Gillman (coach), Lance Alworth, Dan Fouts, Kellen Winslow ... hard to leave out Junior Seau, John Hadl, Ron Mix and Don Coryell, but 4 is the limit.
 
UK Basketball Dan Issel, Jamal Mashburn, Antonie Walker, and Adolph Rupp.

Green Bay Packers Bart Starr, Brett Favre, Ray Nitschke, Vince Lombardi

Atlanta Braves Hank Aaron, John Smoltz, Chipper Jones, Dale Murphy

The Celtics BY FAR have the most successful history of all the Boston sports teams, but yet their Mt. Rushmore was the easiest to pick, IMHO.

My only regret- there was no room for longtime play-by-play announcer Johnny Most or Tommy Heinsohn (who has been a part of ALL 17 championships as either a player, coach or announcer).
 
There's a very strong debate tonight about Boston's Mt. Rushmore. Most people agree, Bobby Orr and Tom Brady are givens, and there's always going to be a debate between Bill Russell and Larry Bird for the Celtics representative (as much as I love Bird, I have to give this to Russ). It's the Red Sox rep that has me shocked. I've always believed that Ted Williams had his spot sewn up, but now there's a strong push for David Ortiz. I think a lot of this talk can be chalked up to a warm and fuzzy feeling after the Sox and Ortiz won their third championship in a decade. But Papi over The Splendid Splinter?? Let's get real folks! :eek:
 
No way Papi over Williams, that's just crazy talk. Come back to me when he hits .400 or has over 500 HR's
 
Much different Era's. I'm not sure that Ted had to face a set up guy or closer throwing a high 90's fastball or a splitter.

I can only go by what I've seen since I've been alive.


My Boston Mt. Rushmore would be.

Brady, Ortiz, Bird, Borque.

Ted Williams received almost 94% of the vote for the HOF on the first ballot. Ortiz, even with his recent WS run, is a marginal HOFer. If he had played in the field, and hadn't had the PED allegations, he would certainly get in now, but that isn't the case. It's not even a close call for me, Williams is a FAR better player than Ortiz.

Chicago Blackhawks: Chris Chelios, Jeremy Roenek, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews
Iowa Hawkeyes Football: Dallas Clark, Tim Dwight, Chuck Long, Nile Kinnick
Iowa Hawkeyes Basketball: Chris Street, B.J. Armstrong, Reggie Evans, Acie Earl

This is tough because there are so many other players I like on these teams over the years. I also have a player on two of my teams with B.J. Armstrong.
