Watched it last night on OD. Very interesting plot and story line, but kind of on the north side of weird. Superb acting by Phoenix and Hoffman thou. I need to watch it again to grasp its true meaning. Just too deep for my intellect (or perhaps my lack of it).

I saw it back when it was in the theater. It reminded me a lot of the stories of Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard.

Except for the knowledge that this movie was nominated for an oscar, I watched this movie "cold". I thought you couldn't go wrong with Hoffman or Phoenix. I like them both. Didn't really read any reviews whatsoever. I'm not even sure if it won an oscar. Not being too familiar with Scientology or R. Hubbard, the similarity really didn't occur to me. But I think you're right.
