The Last Samurai

that is a very good price if it is the 2:35:1 version. It should be a great movie to watch on HD DVD. The version on HBO was cropped. I saw no details about the format... I hope they do not sell the "Full Screen" or cropped HD DVDs.

Just bought the first three titles from BB this morning: The Phantom of the Opera, The Last Samurai and Serenity.

Good news! According to the cover, all of them are wide-screen versions: (2.4:1 and 2.35:1). All three are in 1080p (of course, current players are 1080i only, but it's nice to see that the discs are future-proof) and have at least Dolby Digital Plus sound. In addition, the Phantom of the opera has Dolby TrueHD.

Can't wait to get home to watch them. Stuck at work for now...

While watching TLS, I noticed when the layer change came, the movie kicked into FF for about 2 seconds then settled down to regular speed.

I hope this quirk is the TLS disk only, and not what it's going to do everytime at the layer change.
