Since my local CW station is in horrible bit-starved SD, I've started watching some of the series I like via HuluPlus and Netflix.

But it is so irritating, here's why.

On Netflix I can see older seasons after they've released on DVD (I assume). That's important because I didn't keep up with the series because of the aforementioned horrid SD! That's well and good.

Enter HuluPlus. While they have the current seasons on, they don't have all of the current season. Just the last 4-6 episodes!

So there's a gap between the end of say, season 2 and the current season 3 of a series. And I've found no legal way to find the current season's beginning episodes of many of the series! :(

As long as I can remember, CW always "streamed" the last 5 episodes of any current series.

You can always buy a season pass or individual episodes to a series on Vudu, Amazon, AppleTV etc

Cheers, K

Thanks. I actually had forgotten about those season passes, mostly because they are very overpriced IMO.

I guess it's my own fault for not looking at huluplus earlier. :(

Just a tip, my GF and I often buy the SD version of shows off VUDU for 1.99$. We choose SD because the quality pretty good and it rival some's cable company HD quality.

Thanks. I do that often with VUDU, Amazon and iTunes. I've found the SD to be very watcheable.

Just went to iTunes, and boy are they proud of the HD version of Nikita! $49/season.

I think I'll shift my watching a bit when it comes to CW. Watch previous seasons on Netflix and wait for the current one to show up. It isn't like there isn't more than enough to watch without watching current CW stuff, or most other channels for that matter.

I don't have to be current as since I've retired, 'around the water cooler' is my kitchen sink! :)

Your local CW isn't broadcast in hd or,dish doesn't carry it in hd?If the latter,it shouldn't be much longer until they get the hd version.

I'm almost amazed at the sd quality on both the roku, and the PS3.Watching sd on those devices compared to Dish or Dtv sd,is night and day difference. It's actually sad how bad sd is on sat and some cable providers.I can remember when we first got Dtv,then later Dish, using a 27" RCA crt tv,it was like the best picture ever.

The station is a low power station and doesn't do HD. Hell, they don't even do SD that is worth watching OTA! It is worse by far than even Direct's SD and that's saying something.

And add AppleTV to doing very good SD. I've watched some very old shows that aren't in HD on my ATV and my BluRay player from Amazon, HuluPlus and Netflix and it is all much better than the SD from Dish or Direct by quite a bit. Totally watcheable.

I buy my HD CW seasons from Amazon VOD (and use the RoKu or iPad to watch). They are $2.84/episode if you get the season pass. Past seasons on Amazon VOD are discounted, I do not see iTunes reducing prices on past seasons very often.

How true.

When Dish and AMC had their dispute, I bought the SD version of Breaking Bad season 5 on Amazon with the credit Dish gave me. Much higher pq compared to Dish SD.
