Dish has all kinds of bad (IMO) rules when it comes to additional packages. Why can't you get BB@Home with The Welcome Package. I would think that those two would be a natural fit for many customers. It used to be available, so why isn't it now? Or why isn't the Multi-Sports Package available for packages that don't have any of those channels already in it? So much "ala carte" potential wasted.I have 118 as well. This is silly. Why not offer this new package ala cart?
no NHK world, no AJE, no BBC world, no CNN international, no deal.
Yes, many of us have posted that about Roku several times. But some just don't have a fast enough internet connection, some (or maybe family members) can't or don't want to have to find those channels every time. Remember, for the most part they are nested, it's not like you click once and there it is.
That said, the Roku can be great and for programming Dish maybe does not have even better, but if someone is willing to pay for the content that is on Dish, why not?
Its ridiculous! Im willing to pay dish for the programming. However they want to gouge you into
buying an international package at 20 bucks? All so I can add just the news pack for 5 dollars?
So, for now, Ill just watch those news channels for free on Roku. The quality can be iffy at times.
But its a better price then 25 bucks.
Hopefully someone maybe a dirt member can pass this up.
No matter how you cut it its lost revenue for dish.
I think the issue is the 118.7 LNB plus installer. The $20 international package pays for the upgrade over time. It would be better if you already have 118.7 you could add for free or pay the standard $95 one time send the installer out fee to get 118.7 installed.
But really a 118.7 upgrade probably costs Dish $150-$250 (new LNB, maybe a switch, maybe a new dish, plus installer service call). At $5/month it would take Dish a long time to recover the costs.
As mentioned by others that's not true. It's not lost revenue if Dish has to come out and install a 118 Dish/LNB. If they do that for free, then you drop the $5 channel after a month or two they have lost revenue. If you don't have 118 now, are you willing to pay $95 to get the dish? Many might, and that is what we are saying. Offer it to those who have 118, and if needed charge the $95 or so to get the 118 installed.....No matter how you cut it its lost revenue for dish.
I received an email from Brian after sending an email to the CEO address. He asked me to give him my account, so he can see if there is a way to add it without the international package. I have 118 already so keeping my fingers crossed. Guessing Monday I might hear back.
Has anyone been able to add the News package if you already have 118 without adding an International package?
I was just checking Dish website to look at this and I noticed other packages that I didn't know.
Can someone tell me what channles are in these packages please?
INTERNATIONAL: SPORTS PACK
INTERNATIONAL: MUSIC PACK
INTERNATIONAL: WORLD PACK
I have never heard of them... and I was thinking to switching to International programming on the summer, but I didn't find info on those packages.
Brian (Who answered my CEO email) called me after talking to the programming department, and at this time they just are not allowing adding this package without an International package. He did go to this site and saw the posts, he said he is sending the information here that there are people who would get it along to see if that policy would be changed. I suggest if you want it to also email to perhaps have changes made......
