Mangino's Obesity has caused him severe mental problems and resulted in his increasingly abusive nature. The University and everyone else saw it growing and finally had enough. I guess you can condemn them for trying to work with him if you want too.

I've seen studies that propose mental illness leads to higher risk for obesity, but not the other way around.
