Telephone Line Required???

I couldn't find any current information on if a telephone line was required for Hopper updates. We have had our land line disconnected a couple of months ago and just use cell phones at this time. I do have an internet cable going to the receiver. Thanks, Larry

Internet works best. Phone line not needed.

YES!

Yes, phone is not needed. Updates are via satellite. Internet is not required but is preferred to get access to apps and streaming channels. If you have internet at home you can use wifi in place of ethernet.

Updates for non-Android equipment are sent via satellite. Updates for Android equipment (Hopper Plus, Wireless Joey 4, Wired Joey 4) are sent via IP connection.
