Technical Help Please!!

Alright here I go, I have Dish Network with 4 tvs hooked up, 2 dual receivers with each having hd and standard, all hooked into a dpp44. My issue is room A has hd receiver, room b has standard. I want to swith Hd tv to room B and standard to room A but I dont know what cables to move on the multi switch. Any help would be great.

switch has nothing to do with it. You get HD wherever the HD receiver output (typically HDMI cable) is connected. Get the HDMI cable to HD TV wherever that might be, and you are good to go

When I called dish they said $99 for tech to come out because cables would have to be switched.

Um ok, if you don't know what you're talking about, maybe you shouldn't answer questions here.

First of all, with 2 dual tuners, I don't know why have a 44switch, unless you used to have a different configuration.

What you need to do, and I would recommend getting someone who know's what they're doing to do it for you. If you want to try it yourself you can probably use the search and find diagrams of this.

What you need to do is move the receiver to the other location, but when you do that you also need to switch the 2 cables around going to the rooms. Most likely the cables going to those 2 rooms are hooked to a diplexer, and you need to switch the 2 cables around that go to the "in/out" and the "uhf/vhf" connections. If you know what you're doing it's simple swich, if you don't, then you'll screw it up and end up paying for the service call anyways.

So why not just call dish and cough up some cash and get it done right?

kitin look on the back of your recever for tv 2 out put shuld have a single coax going to a diplexer if not then post back ..

Look at the crude pick i made if diplexers are used it shuld look sumting like that Blue is for Tv#2 SD remote only and Red is the sat signal what you wuld do is unplug recever and disconect the diplexer from the single cable coming out of your wall...

Next conect the cable coming out of your Tv # 2 location to the diplexer... Do not plug it in ... Then go out side/ under and remove the tv #2 line (shuld say UHF/VHf and place it in the single side of the diplexer and the line that was on the single side into the UHF/VHF side and plug recever in.... then press menu 611 and run check switch if no sat is found you have messed with the rong diplexer out side just revers what you did on the first one and then do the same to the next one and run the check once more..

Good luck post back if the tech installed it difrently like placing a power inserter on the line with the HD witch he shuld have not done

Consider Dish home protection plan (DHPP) if you decide to have Dish do it. $5/month for as long as you want/need drops $99 to $29 for most changes like room moves. IIRC.

Yer a level 4 ..Think about it.. A four orb slot dish would require the switch....the op mentioned HD ...That tells me he may have a D-1000+ which as you know requires a DPP44 switch.....
The rest of it you have correct.

by his name, he is in St Louis ,and does have a 1000+, just to confirm.
Because you are going to have to do the moving of stuff around at the diplexer, i would probably agree to add DHPP and set up a service call. It should be a 10 minute job for a tech.
