I record a program on my 722 and had a timer set for a program and the Presidents press conference went over time by 5 minutes, is there any way to extend recording time?

A:

We can only adjust by the guide... you can manually add time in the manual timers and put end late.

Q: e-mail
Paul

Q: e-mail
Mark
Does Dish Network broadcast in a true 1080p signal on your HD channels? I am hearing conflicted reports on this.

A:
1080p is available on Dish Network, keep in mind you need the Hardware a 612, 622, 722 or the upcoming 722k those are all capable of 1080p, you need a 1080p display. We pass along the format as received from the broadcaster. Keep in mind we do have VOD 1080p movies.

Q: e-mail
Dan
Another EHDD Question
Dan gives an overview:
We work with USB EHDD's with the limit that they be single LUN, if the drive is over an inch to an inch and half it will likely work, right now we do not support multi-LUN drives but we hope to do that in the spring.

Q

Scott
I live in the Scranton DMA and with Ciel 2 going up there is talk of adding more HDLIL areas, our problem is the spot beam doesn't cover the entire state and we are outside of that area and cannot get OTA (I keep up with this on SatelliteGuys)and thing coming?

A:
Not sure where the Ciel 2 spots are at, send us an e-mail and we will try to let you know our plans if any for your area.

Q: e-mail
Frank
How do I get the pip to work on my 722 receiver, right now in dual mode?

A:
Start by opening up the little door on the front of the receiver behind the door press the mode button to go into the single user mode for the receiver to be able to function with pip, then press the pip button on the remote then you will have the feature.

Q: e-mail
Tracy
Why is it we can only watch 1 TV while using the DVR, I'd like to watch regular TV while doing this, How can we watch both TV's?

A:
It depends on the model of the DVR, with a single tuner DVR you can record a live program and press the DVR button to watch a pre-recorded program on the DVR. On a 2 tuner DVR if in dual-mode you can watch independent programming on the 2 TV's connected.

Q: Caller
Larry
I have just upgraded to a 722 and my router does not have a landline, it's wireless only, is there a way to hook up the 722 wireless to get VOD.

A:
Right now the 722 doesn't support wifi, you will need to get a homeplug and connect to the router then it talks back to the receiver for more details go totech.dishnetwork.comthen click on the receivers link and find your model 722, there is home network instructions that will walk you through that. (Homeplug available at Best Buy)

Umm, someone did recap previous chat about one/two disks EHD - there was [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logical_Unit_Number"]Logical Unit Number - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame](logical unit number), not 'loon' - correct please.

I'm glad that somebody asked about the Scranton spotbeam inadequacy -- but I for one don't want it on 129, it would be in the trees! One of the EA birds other than 61.5 would be nice.

At least the 922 is coming this spring. Probably wont be available to existing subscribers until much later though for an upgrade promotion.

Personally I think they should just ditch the 722k and just release the 922. Once the 922 comes out, who is going to want a 722k?

Hey I resemble that and I want the 922---folks over 45 can afford the 922 while you young uns can not dangditty:eek:

Good point.

I will change my answer to 85% of people over 45 will want the 722k. 20% will want the 922. 5% get their only entertainment from records and *shudder* reading...

can someone clarify - the phone as remote software:

1) does it require a slingbox attached to the 622, or does it work directly with the 622 without any additional hardware?
2) is that available [as a beta] now? is there a separate sign-up from the web sling?

  1. It works fine without a slingbox. Actually, the iPhone app doesn't support streaming content just yet (I don't think), just the remote and scheduling bit.
  2. If you are already signed up for the sling guide beta, then you are golden. The iphone app is actually a web app, not a stand alone application. I just added a bookmark to my home screen for fast access. Just go to <dish.sling.com>, where it will redirect you to <dish.sling.com/iphone.php>. In fact, you can just navigate to the iphone website on your computer and do all of the same remote tricks. I think if you have a java enabled browser on your phone, you could browse to that website with your phone and see if it works that way too.

Easy (probably old) question
