I have been reading all the threads on Team Summit including the one regarding the meeting with Charlie and Eric on Saturday night. Were any questions asked or answered regarding the addition of the RSN HD channels that are uplinked but not available yet. As others have said FSN - North is available on D* Comcast, Time Warner and even Charter but not on E* I know this sounds like a broken record but when something is being offered by every other provider and not by E* it is a bit frustrating. As much as I don't want to I may have to look at D* again. Thanks much! :)

BTW - Great coverage of Team Summit, Scott. I wish the event would come to Minneapolis / St. Paul.

Kinda sad... the only new HD channels I really care about and they aren't even mentioned.

All those present, except for Scott, and PG, are in Texas, and we get our RSN in HD. Maybe that is why it wasn't at the top of our list, sorry.

Tom in TX

Good point Tom, I never thought of that. Is the Nashville RSN in HD turned on? Maybe next year someone will ask about them.

I think they will try to add some more soon but for now we will just half to keep a eye on the uplink reports. Maybe we will see some good things this month.

It would be interesting to know the reasons why the other HD RSN's are not available E ????. I have heard talk that its because there isnt all that much being broadcast in HD. Well thats not true for FSN North. The Twins HAD (as in when the season started) 40+ HD games this season......

Jimboeau.......have you tried contacting FSN North to see if they have any answers ? I cant find a contact name otherwise I would be sending an email.

I think it's the opposite. The RSNs with more games are the ones that aren't on yet. Maybe because all the RSNs uplinked to 129/61.5 share one transponder, they're putting up the ones with fewer games.

Well main thing is one not all the games are in HD which means they will not be on the RSN's in HD. They just be on the regular RSN channel or another sports SD Channel. As far as the other RSN HD Channels my guess is that they might still be working on contracts getting them added on Dish.

My guess is it is a money thing. Stations with fewer games in HD are probably cheaper.

I agree mdon the HD RSN's that are available probably have the least amount of HD programming ......it was probably a money issue with E*.....that would be a suprise huh ?

Actually more transponder space then anything, NESN HD is 24 / 7 HD they dont have room for a 24/7 channel which only serves 3 or 4 states.

The reason why they selected the RSN's they did was because they looked at their schedules for MLB and looked at which ones did not colide with other hd games since they are actually just time sharing one tranponder. :)

FINALLY we get an answer. Thank you Scott. Now I have to ask the inevitable...when will this change? In other words, we can we expect FSN North in HD??

Thanks again

DB2 this question was asked in our meeting with Charlie Ergen and Eric Sahl, and the honest answer is probably about a year to year and a half before they have them all up.

I think its a fair amout of time. Some wont be happy, but they are really making due with what they have to work with.

Hey, any answer is better than no answer at all IMHO Scott. Thank you for asking and reporting back. Now I can shut up for 5 minutes :D

Wow, that is quite a bit longer than I figured. I'm acutally really surprised by that.

Scott, does these answers mean that E*'s out of space now to add new HD channels or have they blocked out space to add other new national HD channels that would have a larger audience then some RSN?

I'm just curious since lots of folks say that E* will be able to match D*'s plans for new national HD channels that are supposed to be coming online later this year and wondered how they were going to accomplish that.

Even if E* is able to match D* on the national HD channels, this still leaves them behind in other areas (HD RSN's in much of the country). Either way it doesn't appear E* will be able to match D* for the foreseeable future.

The RSN's they have now cover over 50% of the population.

The rest will be made available by next year (with a few more coming this year)

Dish has the space NOW to put up all the HD RSN's, however if they did that then they would not have space to put new national HD content. The HD RSN's only are seen in certain areas. So its not worth wasting national HD space for something that is regional. :)
