If HDDVD wanted to ante up for an endcap at Target, HDDVD players would be sold there. Since HDDVD stand alones out sell BD stand alones 70 to 30 I guess the HDDVD group isn't too concerned about getting into Target at this time. Now Target will have two dust collectors in the electronics department in the form of the PS3 and a Sony BD stand alone.
Example of HDDVD supporter mule blinders right here.
Almost 4mil PS3's sold, and since the price drop its outselling the 360 in July so far. Yepp, its collecting dust.
I decided to add more because you like throwing up this 70/30 number.
This 70/30 number is because people dont take in to count the PS3. While I dont agree counting all of them, I use my PS3 for movies and Im sure Im not the only person on earth to do so.
The fact is, BR is outselling HDDVD on movies 60/40 since inception (65/35 right now). This tells me either you HDDVD guys spent all your money on the lower priced player and cannot afford movies, OR there are many more people than you want to believe using their PS3's for BR. HDDVD loves to claim that you can count the 360 add on (which I
agree with) but you cant count the PS3. I disagree with counting all HDDVD standalones + the 360 addon against BR standalones alone, its idiotic.
Here's whats funny, more 360 addons have been sold than HDDVD standalones, which means the
gamers ARE watching HD movies. Give me 25% of the PS3 guys watchin movies and thats 1 million players. Even if they did not buy the PS3 for movies like me. You want to think that they wont buy BR's if they have a HDTV?
Flaunt that 70/30 hardware number all you want, at the end of the day we know its better than that due to BR selling more movies. Movies sales, as with game sales, are what counts in the end.
When I booted my PS3 it asked me a survey about use, and I picked movies first. You can bet Sony has an idea about how many PS3's were bought for movies first and games second.
