Taking Our Receive To A Vacation Home.............

OK, you're totally confusing me...if they are ACTIVE, then what does that have to do with INACTIVE ones (like mine) that continue to playback recordings just fine???
Apparently when you disconnect a recvr from the Sat signal, they have made it so you cannot watch your recorded shows.

If they worked the way you said, I should be able to disconnect the power to the Motor home drive to the camp sight and watch my recorded shows without setting up the dish ... I cannot.

Last thing Anyone would do is load up your DVR with shows and then deactivate service and expect it to continue to be able to watch the shows.

I had disconnected my dvr's from power then called Directv to disconnect service. As I said, both dvr's recording list with no problem.

So, it has to be disconnected from the Account ?
Then you can't use it any longer, that would not work for me.
I have to have it available to use when needed, many times while travelling, we would like to be able to watch shows that are on the DVR without having to set up the dish, seeing were on the move and looking for something to watch in the evening after traveling for the day.

Seeing the DVR has been unplugged, we can't seem to get to the playlist to watch anything.
Now for example, if I disconnect it from the dish and KEEP the power plugged in, I can still watch, or was able to last time I checked it, but thats hard to do when you travel.

Unless someone has a solution that I haven't heard yet.

Fwiw, it's a HR24.

If you disconnect it first, then disconnect the service, a dvr will work for a while, most only for a few days. Apparently the HR20s are different, maybe because of and older software version.

NO, he's just telling you that his disconnected (from an account) DVR's playback just like mine do, that's all.

Yes, you're just not giving it enough time to fully reboot when you disconnect it & then connect to power. If you want to test this at home, try this before you drag it out of the house:

- Unplug the DVR from power & dish
- Wait a couple min, then plug ONLY the power in
- Let it go thru it's routine for about 5-10 minutes, then after it settles down & reports SFS, press the LIST button a couple times & your playlist should come right up

NOW, as to how long it will let you playback things, I'm not going to comment on...since others seem to think they've changes the software to NOT allow ANY playbacks after the authorizations expire in the receiver...

Ill give it a try and see what happens, this recvr is currently disconnected from thevdish and power is off now while the MH is getting work done, should be back later this week.
