Scott the site is wickedly quick, even from Iraq where it's at least an 800ms delay.. This is what I'm getting from sat guys as its the quickest site I can pull up. (BTW we use sat internet)

3) If you dont like them, turn off Signatures in your control panel.
That does NOTHING except for the individual who enables or disables this. YOU, or the site, still loads the images, waits for them, and this is factored into your "page load" times. EVERYONE could turn off .sigs and your numbers would still be skewed.

Incorrect. When they were having trouble with mygamercards site yesterday, those who had signatures turned off did not notice a slowdown. :)

Heh... funny what this (fairly) new auto-retrieve-page-title-from-URL feature in vBulletin does to some posts. It makes it look like you have a "Yahoo!" entry in your hosts file (or other ns source). :)

An adblock rule to the gamer card site is a beautiful thing!

It is normally fast for me. Any slowdowns I noticed is usually due when my ISP has congestion issues. Sometimes it loaded real slow on my end when someone at the bus lot at the same time the site will load faster then a Nascar race!

If vBulletin is smart enough to NOT PHYSICALLY LOAD .sigs when a user has them turned off, that's great. I presumed it simply loaded them anyway but didn't display them. Hell, if that's the case, you should turn them off by default for everyone ! :D Then again, most .sigs are text-only and not loaded from another site.

This isn't good, index page.

Page generated in 18.55531 seconds with 11 queries

I dunno about you people but I'm still having super slow issues. To get the main page, this was my time:

Page generated in 0.10525 seconds with 16 queries

To get here to this thread was:

Page generated in 0.15069 seconds with 10 queries

Tenth of a second? That's slow?

I guess I'm not reading those numbers right. When I got to the page, it took forever to load. The page was still white with my load bar still showing it was loading. I guess it counts the seconds for pages differently and not what I thought. Whatever.

Scott, I can't post messages (yeah, spare me the irony of this post) on my machines at home. If I bypass the blocked sites I have configured on my Netgear Router, I can get through. As far as I can tell from Firefox and Safari debugging the links on the site, the suspect apears to be http:/www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js (ISC artivle: SANS Internet Storm Center; Cooperative Network Security Community - Internet Security - isc)

I started blocking google-analytics after they were found by the ISC to have been hacked and distributing downloader trojans. Is this something new? I can remove this one exception, but it seems odd that this is the first I ran into this...

There was a problem with our PHP Caching software (APC) and I needed to clear the cache, which fixed the posting issue.

All is well again. Sorry about that. :)

Thanks to Digiblur who called me and let me know, as I was sitting here at the computer jamming with Itunes. :D

Well, then, that's very different... Never mind.
