do the hd dvr from direct have the same aspect ratio settings as the dish 622.i can set it to 4:3 and the sd channels fil the screen.are all the sd channels from direct will have a black bar like cable does.

The DirecTV DVRs can set to any resolution and format you want. You cycle through the various resolutions (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p) and then you can get normal, stretched, cropped it needed.

You may want to use your TV format settings instead.

If you set the Receiver to Widescreen (16:9) and your TV to normal mode then all HD will fill the screen except in cases where the HD broadcast is 4:3 such as ESPN and CNN. Then set the Receiver to Stretch and all SD programming will fill the screen w/0 pillar boxes but if your watching Voyeur Beach Volleyball, don't be surprised if those tall hot chicks turn into short fat trollops ;(
