I have looked at the Dish pricing and my impression is that the Dish pricing is about 15% lower than Direct.

1. What am I missing??
2. For you Dish users, are you still satisfied with your decision or would you switch to Driect?

Thanks

I've been a dish customer for 10+ years. I would not switch to Direct because I don't like their user interface. However, that's also because while I like football, I wouldn't pay extra for Sunday ticket. If NFL was important enough for me, I'd switch for that.

Dish

You're not missing anything. Dish is less expensive than Directv. The equipment is also better. And, despite the hype, Dish has more HD channels, as well. I've had both, and prefer Dish. :D

It really depends on what package you are getting on the price difference. My Directv bill is lower than what I would pay with dish so you really need to look at all fees and make sure of the costs.

Make sure you know what your bill will be AFTER the initial deals on packages go up. Once the first year is over on your two-year committment, the prices will go up. I ALWAYS look at what the regular price is so that I know what I will eventually be paying.

I am also looking into changing from DTV to Dish, mainly for Versus and HD on the road in my RV. (KVH - my dome sat builder on the rv - says I can get Dish HD with a 211 or 211K receiver according to their site, but no DTV.) I recently received a flyer in the mail for a Dish deal and attempted to find out about it. I called 1st to see if the install included putting the Dish on the pole where my DTV currently is. I called a 2nd time because I forgot to ask about using Dish in the RV, any charges, etc. On the 2nd called, I had a guy yell at me and tell me not to call back with "stupid" questions and hung up the phone on me. Are there any good deals you know of for new Dish subscribers? Is the Dish 211 or 211k a HDDVR? We currently have 2 HDDVR's (LRM & MBR) and a standard receiver (office & RV) from DTV.

The 211(k) can become an HDDVR with a External Hard Drive and a one time fee.:welcome

I forgot to ask a couple of questions.

1) What is ClubDish? I have read threads saying to use a CD code. Can someone PM me a code? Do you sign up at a specific website with the code? Do you still get deals on the new customer plans (i.e. free install, discounts, equip upgrades, etc.)?

2) What receivers do we want to try and get? We currently have a DTV HDDVR in LRM, standard in office & HD in MBR. We would want to have an HD box that we could move from the MBR to the RV for trips like we do now. Moving a box from the LRM would be a real pain.

3) Can the 211K be used to watch different show on diffrent tvs at the time?

I've been on board with Dish for two months. for me, cost had 0 to do with my decision. i would gladly pay more for Dish.

for me, it all comes down to the equipment. the $5 or $10 you might save, at most, depending on the package, over Direct is nothing compared to the number of hours per month you are going to spend with the equipment and the user interface.

trust me, the H20/H21 series of DirecTV hardware is crap, it really is. everything about the GUI is slow, slow slow.....the Dish external hard drive interface is light years ahead of DirecTV.

with very, very few exceptions, the Dish interface is intuitive, and the new 722k DVR's are just outstanding in every way. a couple of quirks here and there as is the case with anything that has a spinning disk and an operating system, but very good indeed.

a buddy of mine has had DirecTV for years and thinks it's the bees knees. I sit there and watch him operate that user interface, and I almost scream....It's like watching paint dry..

I can give you a club code

I will PM you with one here in just a few minutes.

I prefer Direct because - they offer my locals in HD, Dish does not.
- they carry NESN (RedSox) in HD 24/7, Dish does not.
I was a Dish customer for 10 or so years, I always recommend that undecided folks go with the programming they want, regardless of UI, monthly costs etc.
