I have a DPP44 switch connected to a Dish 1000 and a wing dish looking at 61.5. It feeds 3 receivers (622 and 2 301's), and I also have a Dish DVR510 not subscribed currently.

I plan to record the Tech Forum a week from Monday on the 510. I can temporarily swap it for my 301 in the same room, but I have a couple of SW21's laying around.

Will a SW21 let me split one of the feeds off my DPP44 and send sat signal to both the 301 and the 510? Being not highly versed in Dish switch technology, I was curious if the sw21 works both as a combinerand a splitter or just as a combiner.

not gonna happen

Unless you get the 510 subscribed, plugged in to replace one of the 301's, and do a switch test on it, you won't be recording at all.

edit: oh, you have a -44. That means 4 outputs. Sorry.
I suppose you could run an RG6 from the unused output of your switch to the 510...
But it's still gonna need to be subscribed, et al.

No matter what a DP21 or a SW21 is a switch not a splitter and cannot be used as a splitter. Think of it as an electronic A/B switch it controls which signal is sent to the receiver.

ouch !

I stand corrected. I suspect Garys is quite right.
You can run a test now to verify.

And Boba is absolutely correct.

that's really what I suspected.

I'll just swap the cable from the 301 to the 510.

I use it to record NASA and Charlie Chat/Tech Forums.

All recording works fine unsubbed, just limited to 3-4 channels.

Are the new Top 100 channels up?

Superbowl on NFLHD?
