Hi guys I was just wondering if there is an easy solution to my problem. Basically, I swapped rooms with my brother whos room just has a receiver, no DVR. My old room did and now im stuck without a DVR. I called Dish but they said they would charge me 99 bucks to have someone come out here and do their thing.

Cant I just like swap the wires so my brother can have his old DVR-less setup back and I can have my DVR, or do I really have to pay the 99 bucks?

We have two receivers one is in the living room(VIP 722k DVR) it runs both the living room TV and my old rooms TV. My brother had a VIP211k no DVR just the receiver

probably easier to add a external hard drive to the 211, and pay E the 40 bucks to activate it.......

just wait a few more days then tell your bother the DVR is ending. he should pay the costs.

just let him get hooked first:)

the 211 has no monthly DVR fee once you pay the activation fee

I believe the OP was probably wanting a cheap fix, after the purchase of an EHD and the forty dollar fee to dish would put him above $99 ;)

as long as your room was ran with RG6 line all you will have to do is determine if the 722K was ran using diplexers, follow both lines back to the ground block and diplexer then just swap the two around.

I dont know what a diplexer is. I did follow the 722k line and it was connected to this metal thing and i swapped it with the wire underneath it but everything in the house is still the same. I dont think I swapped the right lines

how many cables are going to the 722k?

Ok well theres 3 total wires one is next to the antenna thing that I guess connects to each remote and the other 2 are connected to a T looking thing (idk what its called) with a sticker that says SATELLITE.

let his brother pay it once brother gets addicted to having a DVR:) plus the poster has a high def cvapable receiver, somethin g he wouldnt have with a 722 tv 2 out

That is the cable with the signal for TV2...the one going to your old room.

You need to trace this cable into the basement/attic and attach it to the cable going to your new room.

Then, you need to take the cable that it was connected to (the one from your old room) and connect it to the ground block or switch (where the cable from your new room presumably used to tie into).

Pictures would really help...take pictures of the back of the receivers, wall connections, and any connections (ground block or switch) in the basement, attic, or on the exterior of the house.

Okay, am the only one that notices the topic starters funny name?

ASSCancer. I sure hope this is not a self fulfilling prophecy.;)

622 vs 722 vs 922?
