I know the 622 supposedly can't support it due to chipset inadequacies. But how about the 612, or any of the non-DVR receivers? In my situation with my daughter moving to Drexel, it sure would be nice if the 612 could use one.

I failed to make it clear I know what support exists already. :( What I meant to ask, possibly for DIRT to do some internal probes, was whether this is it forever.

Yea I agree thekrell,it would be very nice if the 612 could get sling support.Would also be ok if they added it for the entire vip line.

Unfortunately, Mary in a PM told me,

The ViP612 & ViP622 are not capable of supporting the sling so this will not be something that will available.

major bummer

It is indeed. I'm suspicious that it could be made to work with some limitations, such as no simultaneous EHD support, or no simultaneous and independent TV1 use.

Anybody have a clue why the Sling stream isn't mirrored on the TV2 output as Scott originally suggested it would? Or why we can't select which TV output to stream?

When the Sling first came out, TV1 output would switch to what the Sling was sending out. Very annoying if someone was watching TV1. That was corrected.
I would assume that one reason might be that if it were, TV2 remote could take control, annoying whoever was watching remotely.

Haven't tried this recently. But IIRC the TV2 user w/remote can take control now, thereby disconnecting the remote viewer. That would be even more annoying! ;)
