Superdish LNB questions

Hi All:

Hopefully someone here can help me with getting my Superdish working... I purchased it on eBay (yes I know...) Set it up and ran test switch (DLP44) it came up no connection on two of the LNBs. Ok Thought it may be a bad LNB so I purchased a replacement, Same result; no connection... It appears that the LNBs aren't compatible with the DLP44?? The DLP44 tests ok with the dual "DP" LNB that was included with both purchases... Any insight into what I'm missing would be helpful....

SuperDish LNB's will work with the 44 switch.

how sure are u that its peaked in...... and what is the reason you have super dish local or international ???.

and whats the part number for 44 switch.

In the past, running check switch gives you "no connection" when no signal is detected.
So, if your dish isn't properly aimed or connected, that would be where I would look first.

I haven't used Superdishes nor DP44's, but I doubt the above has changed.

give us more info like what reciever,,, and what does it show under equipment when you do check switch.....

The receiver is a 811 HD...
Nothing shows under equipment when running the check switch function.
I'll have to get the Switch part number, I'm at work now...
I attempting to use the Superdish to get Atlanta locals off of 121

it might not be peaked in.... but if you think its switch. you can alwasy by pass the switch and hook up 1 sat location at time into 811. so see if you have signal from the lnb or not.

btw atl hd local are on 129... and atl sd local are on 119.

Also, HD locals are mpeg4, 811 is an mpeg2 receiver and would not receive them even once you get 129.

Thanks for the info... SO what other HD channels would I be missing without a mpeg4 receiver? I was thinking about subscribing to the HD package... Since my "Contract commitment" is over I didn't want to have to signup for another 18 months... How does Dish expect to keep customers if they obsolete equipment? The 811 isn't that old...

811 is mpeg 2 reciever, most of the new hd local, and new hd channels, including voom are now mpeg 4. its not dish fault. they are not gone keep mpeg 2 and 4 feed. thats just waste of space on satellite. you can get swap for 211. that mpeg 4 but you might have to commite to 18 months. call dish find out.

No Connection

I don't have an 811 receiver, but my receiver will show no connection if the lnb is not getting a signal from the satellite. If you have a signal meter, I would connect it to the LNB that is not showing a connection to see if the signal is there. If you don't have one, you can find them under $20 and I would consider it a must if you are going to be using a superdish. A very small movement of the dish will lose a weak like 129 and show the problem you are seeing.

Hopefully your DLP44 is a DPP44.

Make sure the stringers/center conductors coming out of your RG-6 coax extend past the end of the threads about 1/4 inch. Likewise for the cables going into the receiver ports on the bottom of the DPP44.

That will probably solve your problem of the receiver not detecting a switch at all, or only part of the time; as well as a NC for the LNBF.

Glancing through the other posts, if 121 is not going to be of any value to you, then you may want to purchase a SuperDish Repoint Kit, maybe from The DishStore for about $100. You can take the Repoint Kit and the 110 LNBF from your SuperDish, and convert it to a Dish 1000+ which will give you 110, 118.7, 119, & 129.

Normally they won't, and someone a few posts up mentioned losing 129 on his super dish...he probably meant 1000+ as he has 118 listed in his sig.

But dish did release a repoint kit which is basically a 500/1000+ lnb made to fit on the end of a super dish arm. I have only used it once, and I used it for the 110/119/129, didn't bother with 118. I would have used a 1000.2 but there was already a 2" pole in the ground. I beleive there is also a repoint kit that uses a 1000.2 lnb or some sort of W bracket, but I have never seen it.

I know you need to make a mod if you try to replace the SuperDish LNBF cluster with a Dish 500+/1000+ LNBF cluster.

However, in the past couple of months since the "SuperDish Repoint Kit" has (finally) become available, it mounts without making any modifications; other than having to readjust your settings, as reported on various threads.
