In the recent firmware update for a E* 6000, in the check switch it now shows a Superdish position for 3 lnbs - 4lnbs - full - and alt.

What is full? 5lnbs or something else?

What is alt?

Does the 6000 series now work with satellite positions in the new firmware?

Alt I know on other machines were "hillbilly Superdishes" (not a regular superdish but a separate 30" dish and Legacy setup)

I don't have anything to back what I'm saying up but I would think that : Superdish 3lnbs of course is because it has 3 lnbs
Superdish 4lnbs would mean you have a superdish hooked up with another dish hooked up also like a 61.5/129/or 148 satellite.
Full would mean a Dish 500 with two or more DBS band sats hooked up
Alt would mean a Dish 500 with either 61.5/129/ or 148 and could mean a legacy Superdish setup like ICE said.
This is not a fact, just my opinion.

I may be wrong here but from the testing I have done with the 2700/2800's it appears the superdish 3/4/full/alt settings have something to do with the receiver sending DiSeqc copmmands to the switch. With the receiver connected to a DPP44, DPP twin, or even a DP34 with a legacy adaptor, the receiver will do only 6,8,or 12 tests. I assume it's sending DiSeqc commands to the switch, but it still has to send 13/18 volts to select even or odd transponders. Whatever it's doing, it sure is a lot quicker then the 32 or 50 tests with a old legacy system.

Oh yea I remember that now.

I use a Toroidal T90 (which obviously means legacy lnbs) and a SW64. My SW21 is out and a new one coming, so I can't test more than 3 successfully at a time.

But...

When I check nothing, it does 38 tests and finds 61.5/110/148 with a SW64 in 95 seconds. When I check nothing but alt it does 38 tests and finds 61.5/110/148 with a SW64 in 125 seconds.

When I check Superdish 3lnb it does 6 tests and finds 61.5/110/148 with a SW64 in 45 seconds. When I check 3lnb and alt it does 6 tests and finds 61.5/110/148 with a SW64 in 75 seconds.

When I check Superdish 4lnb and 4lnb alt it does 12 tests and finds NO SATELLITES or NO SWITCHBOX which I find strange.

When I check Superdish full and Superdish full alt it does 50 tests and finds 61.5/110/148 and a SW64 after several minutes.

Thus, I am not sure why the ALT box is there as it makes no difference as to what it finds on my legacy system and only tends to slow the check down by about 30 seconds.

3 lnb if of course for 3 locations same as 4, full is for those who don't what they have 3 or 4 it checks for all locations, alt is only used for installs in puerto rico
