Sunday Ticket on Voom?

st

Last week (I believe) there was an article on CNN Money about what the NFL may do when the current broadcast contract(s) expire. This includes NFL ST.

Anyway, the NFL has said they do not plan to have the same types of exclusive contracts in place for the next contract(s). Ok, I'm paraphrasing a bit here but it certainly looks like the NFL has realized how they're losing money by not providing more programming to more people. It looks like the NFL on TV will be VERY different in the coming years. I read this as DTV will NOT be an exclusive provider of ST.

It may take a while but we may have access to it eventually.

The Rickster

DirecTV has an exclusive on NFL ST through the 2005 season.
DirecTV has a satellite exclusive on NFL ST through the 2007 season.
Both contracts could, or, could not, be extended.
Should the NFL make NFL ST available to cable companies, estimates are its network contract value would be drastically diminished, as would the value of NFL ST to DirecTV.
But there is NO chance of NFL ST being anywhere but DirecTV at least until the 2006 season. And with the far more lucrative network and cable TV contracts to be negotiated before then, I would anticipate NFL ST language included in those contracts, too, to maximize their value to CBS, ABC, Fox and ESPN.

Do you know anyone who has voom?
