The NBA and NHL end of the season edition

1. Both the NBA and NHL gave us very good championship series. The Blackhawks/Flyers series was epic- 47 goals scored, two teams loaded with talent, every game was close and hard-fought to the end, two overtime games, including one that clinched the Cup.

2. Lakers/Celtics was a hard-fought struggle between two ancient rivals. It wasn't pure basketball, but it was bitter and fought to the very end.

3. Yay or nay on Interleague Play?

4. I have a gut feeling that some of the upcoming big-name NBA free agents will stay with their current teams. Don't expect so many players to jump ship!

5. At this point, how do you feel about your favorite baseball team?

6. How does this year's draft stack up compared to previous ones in terms of hype, anticipation, talent, and teams looking for franchise players?

7. Anybody ever been to a state fair? I'm thiking of going to one this summer- I've heard so much about the foods served (deep-fried candy bars, for example)

8. What would YOU do for a Klondike Bar?

9. Anyone ever tried cheesecake from the cheesecake factory?

10. Fill in this blank- the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at is (blank)

11. I am having a lot of trouble getting excited for the World Cup- a lack of goal-scoring, ties, lack of offensive attacks, playing to tie rather than going to the win. Memo to soccer- PLEASE get rid of ties! Hockey finally saw the light on ties a few years ago.

I don't really need it or care for it anymore, but my Tigers sure like it !!!

Currently , pretty good , on a 7 game win streak, a few weeks ago, not so good !!

6. How does this year's draft stack up compared to previous ones in terms of hype, anticipation, talent, and teams looking for franchise players?
What draft are you talking about ?

7. Anybody ever been to a state fair? I'm thiking of going to one this summer- I've heard so much about the foods served (deep-fried candy bars, for example)

8. What would YOU do for a Klondike Bar?
Go to my refrigerator/ freezer

9. Anyone ever tried cheesecake from the cheesecake factory?
Nope, but it sounds good !

IF they had a rule to get rid of Ties in soccer the games would never end. Fwiw, the USA officially tied yesterday , but WON, kinda the same feeling as Gallaraga a week or so ago ....

Nay

dont watch the NBA so could care less

5. At this point, how do you feel about your favorite baseball team?
1st place so cant complain

6. How does this year's draft stack up compared to previous ones in terms of hype, anticipation, talent, and teams looking for franchise players?

eh that depends on how hungry I want one

9. Anyone ever tried cheesecake from the cheesecake factory?

10. Fill in this blank- the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at is (blank)
way too many to list

3 - Nay. Minnesota @ Philadelphia is fundamentally no different from Minnesota @ Detroit and San Diego @ Philadelphia in no meaningful way.

5 - Good. Reds are contending. I don't think they can hang, but certain turn in a winning season.

7 - My state's State Fair is pretty low rent. Small state, not known for agriculture. 4H displays, farm equipment, big carnival, and cut-out bin country singers. Still, its a nice time. Food is a mixture of local people, the carneys' stuff, and state based restaurants.

9 - Cheesecake Factory is a great place. Not only is the cheesecake very good, it has such a long menu that it is great if you have a large group, picky eaters, kids, vegetarians, etc, because anybody can find something on it they will eat. Their upscale version, the Grand Luxe Cafe, is even better.

10 - French.

1)I'm a Blackhawks fan, so no complaint there
2) I could care less about the NBA
3)Interleague play was fine at first, but now I'm sick of it
4)I could care less about the NBA
5)The Nats will make the playoffs, someday
6)Still don't know which draft is being discussed
7)We have a bunch of different fairs here and the food is always fantastic
8)Nothing, I have other ice cream preferences
9)Never been to one
10) the pizza place down the street that is now a parking lot
11)Soccer's fine, the billion fans worldwide have no complaint with it so no need to change. I wish the NHL would stop rewarding teams that lose in OT or the shootout with a point, a loss is a loss and you don't deserve anything for it.

11. I agree :)

3. I am willing to admit that I was wrong about the wildcard. MLB needs to admit that baseball lost something when it went from being two completely separate leagues whose winners played for the World Series to introducing interleague play.

5. The Astros need a new owner. Drayton McLane drove off Gerry Hunsicker and will never land a decent GM because of that. Meanwhile, look what "Gerry the Hun" has done for Tampa. Ever since Hunsicker left, we have spent our off seasons over spending on over the hill talent to sell tickets. It finally stopped working this year. We're a second to last place team (lucky to have the Pirates in our division) with no farm system.

7. I've never been to a state fair, but I've been to Fremont Street in Vegas, so I feel like I have seen plenty of things deep-fried. There is also a M*A*S*H episode where they show a short clip from the movie State Fair, so I am covered in all areas.

8. I would pay about 50 cents plus sales tax.

10. The worst restaurant I have ever eaten at is Chi Chi's when I was living (if you can call it that) in Lima, Ohio. What they called TexMex was criminal. According to wikipedia they "ceased to exist within the United States following a 2003 Hepatitis A outbreak ..." I suspect that they made up the story about a hepatitis outbreak because they were so ashamed about their sorry food, but they are gone and, in this case, that's all that matters.

11. I blame the new ball. I have seen so many shots and long passes that go 15 or 20 feet too far/high. They changed the points awarded for a win from 2 to 3 many years ago to discourage ties. I think that the NHL should adopt that policy. Once we get to the elimination round, there will be no more ties.

The only worthwhile thing Selig has done for baseball while he's been in there .... IMO.

Must have been someone elses idea !

5. At this point, how do you feel about your favorite baseball team?

Sick to my stomach. Is it football season yet?

7. Anybody ever been to a state fair? I'm thiking of going to one this summer- I've heard so much about the foods served (deep-fried candy bars, for example)

I've been to a few county fairs before. Greasy food, cheesy music and the great outdoors. Ironically it all makes for a pretty decent time.

9. Anyone ever tried cheesecake from the cheesecake factory?

I have a few issues with the Cheescake Factory. For one, it seems to focus too much on atmosphere. The building itself is to be marveled. It's an architectural wonder. With that said, and given that what they are selling is ambiance, how can they sell advertising in their menu? Their mid-quality meals are totally overpriced, something I am willing to overlook since I feel like what you are actually paying for is the environment. When they sell ad space in their menu though, they are removing their right to charge the completely bogus prices that they ask. I am completely insulted by the Cheesecake Factory's audacity. And besides the cheesecake, the rest of the menu is very mediocre.

10. Fill in this blank- the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at is (blank)

Applefleas. It's the epicenter for hideous, soul-destroying sameness.

Applebee's is the poster child for everything that is wrong with the overpopulated, over-the-top, un-original, flair crazed dining landscape of the mainstream American chain.

Cheesy, disingenuous, robotic, intelligent-insulting wait service. Crap schmeared and strung about on the walls in a disorganized fashion. The place is too happy, too bright, tables too sticky, too many kids screaming and I haven't even gotten to the food yet! I struggle to understand how THIS has become an acceptable means of dining!

11. I am having a lot of trouble getting excited for the World Cup- a lack of goal-scoring, ties, lack of offensive attacks, playing to tie rather than going to the win. Memo to soccer- PLEASE get rid of ties! Hockey finally saw the light on ties a few years ago.

Think of it like this: There is a lot of pent up excitement for when a goal is finally scored, so the jubilation when it finally comes is unlike any other sport.
