I have an antenna that feeds my tv directly, as well as my Dish HWS.

The tv tuner receives all of the local channels with no problem. The HWS scan receives all of the same channels as the tv, with 1 exception. One of the sub-channels has no sound. At times it does not even display the picture.
I don't understand why the 1 sub-channel is having problems.

Anyone have any ideas

I had a similar problem in the very early days of digital OTA TV. Of course I only had one digital tuner at the time. It turned out that the audio PID number had been entered incorrectly at the station and some tuners can handle that better than others. Audio PID's can be viewed under technical data on the rabbitears site. The station engineer was cooperative and fixed it.

No Signal - total confusion in San Francisco
