bought the silver sensor today to try it out.. Worked great with the close channels but couldn't get frequency 48. I am taking it back tomorrow. I can't find the channel master 4228 locally. I have found the Channel Master 3020 locally and am gonna try it out.

Anyone have any experience with the 3020?

omg I tryed the Channel Master 3020 which is supposed to have a range of 60 miles UHF and 100 miles VHF and channel 4-1 still came in with the signal bad and the Hughes satellite receiver still read no signal.

I will take this back and now I am scared to try the 4228 because its UHF range is supposed to be 60 miles also. Without it being local to me to buy if it doesnt work I could be messed over.

do you want all the channels,

buy a chromestar hd8200p and get a winegard ap8275 amp, god you will pick up cleveland and point the small end half way between the towers

How is that any different than the 3020? The 3020 had the same range as the 8200p.

Granted I didn't run a preamp on it.... But jesus this antenna was 12 feet long it shoulda picked up chicago judging by its size!

it is 177 inches long, yep

you guys swear by ota , dont ya just love it, back where the grandparents were in the 60s

spaceway 1 is at sea launch within 2 months local hd wil be done right by the premier sat provider

As nice as HD OTA through DTV will be... I would still rather have my high bandwidth OTA HD channels.

I just wish WB would up their signal... this is insane! I have had a 12 foot antenna on my roof plugged in and pumping into my Hughes receiver and it didn't pick up a 30 mile away channel!

dont they all have to be at full power by july or august, on the digital side????

ps, remember even though they are transmitting in digital that does not mean they are transmitting in hd. there is no fcc mandate for hd, just the switch to digital.

The original FCC order was for 2006 all HD however it is being taken loosely and most people believe we still won't be all HD by even 2008. There is no regulation on how strong the feeds have to be I don't think.

The thing thats really weird though is on that its listed 48.1 and frequency 48. However on the receiver its found on 4-1 also its found on 29-1 and 29-1's frequency is 54 not 48.

my own feeling is once the spaceway sats are operational the locals on the sat will be very high quality. those two birds are the most advanced and highest powered ever built. directv knows what its doing, it isnt going to spend a billion on bad pq

just one guys opine

Alvarez,

Just to let you know that only thing that i have found to pick up channel 4 is to but you OTA on a rotor i have tried several different antenna and the only place i can pick up channel 4 if the customer lives in a straight line with 135 or live in shelby county or soom place in greenwood , Mooresville can get it but not very high signal, Plainfield can't get it in most places unless it is on a rotor.

alvarez,

from what t says, and from speaking to her, she knows the ropes. i dont think your ch 4 is at full power yet, why not call them and ask for the engineer, and ask him when full power will happen. why go out and pay for an antenna you may not need in a couple of weeks? just a thought

Yea I thought about that but I don't want to spend the money on a rotor if it doesn't work because I stood on the roof while on my cell phone talking to my wife as I turned the antenna about an inch at a time and kept hearing "nope still says no signal!"

Sad thing is... Last year when I was with VooM I got 4-1 perfect. However 13-1 would pixelate and audio drop. As I turned it toward the 13-1 signal 4-1 went out... Ultimately I chose 13-1 over 4-1 and figured I'd get a stronger antenna later.... Then I switched to DirectV and everything was still coming in fine... Now I try all these antennas and can't get it at all, and now even with the winegard I can't get 4-1.

i have a customer that is useing the 8 bay bowtie in carmel and he can pull in channel 4 but he has it on a rotor.
