Where my hat is
Please excuse my ignorance in advance. I'm relatively new to all this and my search has resulted in a lot of frustration.

Currently, I have DirecTV talking to my home network. I can see the movies saved to the DVR on my notebook via Media Center. All well and good. However, I'm stuck at this point.

Attempts to play movies from the DVR to the notebook results in a hung program. In other words, it looks as if it's attempting to play the movie, but nothing happens. I get a bit of drive activity and then nothing.

What started this whole project off was my desire to stream movies from my notebook through the DirecTV interface to the 47" LCD that's hooked up to it!

So. Where do I go from here? I can see the DVR. But attempts to do anything else with the connection has resulted in nothing but frustration. Suggestions?

You cannot view the shows via media center. Media center only allows you to view pictures, music, and videos from you computer on your DVR. If you want to view recorded content from you DVR on your laptop you need to use the DirecTV2PC.

Simply use the link below to download the software on your computer and follow the directions.

DIRECTV: DIRECTV2PC

I hate WMP 11..

i just noticed last night that VUZE has a "device beta" where you can view content from computer to DVR (in my case HR20/700) so ill be trying that instead
