I recall in the old days when calculators first hit, you could buy the top gun, the HP-35 soon to be outdone by the HP-45. I entered the game with a purchase of the HP-45. There were a bunch of competitors out there from Sharp, and Texas Instruments but none would compete and HP remained the one to own by the people in the scientific and engineering community. Then what killed the HP was a little el cheapo calculator from Casio for under $50. Then everyone had them and while they weren't as efficient as the HP-45, Casio had many features built in. Later TI expanded their line with excellent lower cost scientific calculators and basically put HP out of business. I predict this will happen to Apple if they aren't careful. When some mfg like Casio comes along and makes an android like tablet for under $50 with a cheap looking screen, Everyone will own one like a cell phone.
A "Me Too" tablet that costs as much as the ipad will not kill the ipad. Like the HP-35: There is only one tablet that will kill the ipad and that is the ipad2. Heard that comment on the radio today.
