Strategy to get HD locals in non-HD DMA/DTVPal DVR

Since I live in a DMA that is not on any list for HD locals (Champaign-Urbana, Decatur, Springfield IL), I grow weary of seeing that $5 monthly charge for SD locals that I very seldom watch. I do have an antenna hooked to my 722's ATSC tuner, but since two of the four "majors" are affiliates of the primary station I get no guide information for those.

If the information on the DTVPal website is true, the DVR model does not have any monthly fees. I figured they would have some way to make you pay for the guide. My question is, has anyone else considering using a DTVPal DVR for locals instead of their Dish Network system? I realize this would be another source to manage, but since most Home Theater systems now include HDMI switching, it wouldn't be a terrible hardship.

Ideas welcomed!

Not sure the DTVpal will be any better, it gets EPG from TVGos and PSIP. My TV has TVGos and it does not list some local channels and some sub channels. The signal is from local PBS analog, if Feb it will change to CBS digital and many CBS stations ar not going to carry it.
They say it will also use PSIP from local stations,I know this is a problem with most stations sending only 8 hrs or less on PSIP.
A week ago my TVGOS EPG says no info on all channels

I ordered a DTVPAL DVR because I currently get my HD over the air and I refuse to watch downrezzed signals from the satellite, cable, or phone companies. From what I've read the DTVPAL will read whatever signal the station says with the programming info. I can be more specific after I get mine would SHOULD be shortly after 12/17
