I am trying to convert a C band system to Ku. It is a 7.5’ mesh BUD. The mesh is less than a ¼ “. I recently installed an Invacom QPH-031 with a DS21C -2-way DiSEqC switch combining the circular and linear feeds into one. Right now I have a short cable going from the DiSEqC into a Viewsat Ultra and a TV at the dish so I can manipulate the dish manually since the actuator arm now is bad. The focal length is spot on and the focal point has been aligned with a laser. Ultimately, I will have the dish slaved to a Drake receiver.
I have been playing trying to find some sats. I have the elevation and azimuth pretty accurate. I get the signal strength at 71. The thing is I get no Quality. I have the LNB power “on” LNB type “standard” LNB freq “11250” 22 KHz “off” DisEqC1.0 I have tried “port 1” and “none” While rotating the dish through the arc, I even get a signal of 76! Yet, I get no Quality.
I know everyone will say a mesh dish, no good. But, the mesh is less than ¼” and with a signal of >70 shouldn’t I lock on to get some quality? If I have to, I was thinking of replacing the mesh panels with steel. Does anyone know what gauge of steel I would need to pull off the conversion? Thanks in advance.
