Stephen King‘s’11/22/63? Drama From J.J. Abrams on Hulu

11/22/63, a drama series adaptation of Stephen King‘s bestselling 2011 novel, produced by J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot, has landed at Hulu with a 9-episode straight-to-series order. The thriller is described as an event series, but the streaming service is open to additional seasons, possibly focused on other historic events. The pickup comes a year and a half after Bad Robot optioned the rights to the book through Warner Bros TV, where the company is based. “I’ve been a fan of Stephen King since I was in junior high school,” Abrams said. “The chance to work with him at all, let alone on a story so compelling, emotional and imaginative, is a dream.

11/22/63 is described as a thriller in which high school English teacher Jake Epping travels back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. But his mission is threatened by Lee Harvey Oswald, his falling in love and the past itself … which doesn’t want to be changed.

I'm very interested in this. Stephen King is easily my favorite author. The only problem is I haven't read the book yet. I bought the Kindle version a long time ago but haven't gotten around to it yet. I doubt I'll be disciplined enough to hold off on watching the show until I have time to read it.

OMG, this is a horrible adaptation, far worse than Under the Dome. Why? Why? Why? King wrote an amazing novel, and the first two episodes have made huge departures for now compelling reasons. Couldn't even keep the name George Amberson. Really?

Episode 1 was much better than Episode 2, which is truly horrible.

The past is obdurate. It doesn't like to be changed. They should have learned from that lesson. Don't mess with a great book. Sure, you could cut some stuff, but there is no reason not to remain fidelity to the story.

I'm curious if you don't like it because it isn't a good adaptation of the book or because you think it's a bad show. I haven't read the book yet even though I plan too. I thought the first episode was okay but I haven't seen the second yet.

I think its a terrible adaptation of one of my favorite all-time books, which had a story that should NOT have been hard to adapt, and I just am not impressed by how they have done the first two episodes. The first episode was better than the second, but as the first episode continued on, I became more and more frustrated.

I watched the second episode last night and I enjoyed it. It seems like a good TV show to me. That being said, if I had read the book before hand like Rocky and knew where things were going and what had been changed from the book it might have bothered me just like it bothered him.

Judging it purely as a TV show with no knowledge of what happens in the book I think it's pretty good so far.

Well, the third episode was better, but no freaking clue why hey added a co-conspirator for the Oswald surveillance, although it makes sense.

I like the actress they have playing Sadie, but wish they followed her character development better.

And I miss not having "Jimla!" with the football team. The past is obdurate you know.

I'll keep on watching, but I won't be really happy.
