Well, I havent experienced any real breakups yet except on one channel.. but my quality readings have me concerned...

Keep in mind I am using a SC 60E dish..

I am only getting about 70 quality on 107.3, and more like 50 on 111.1 obviously my skew is off by a little, but that 70 is completely peaked out, I really cant get that any higher (I tried for a good half hour, its dead center).

It was raining the other night, and I still had high 50s low 60s, I just wanted to see what everyone else is getting.

Unlike DBS satellites that drop at about 40-50%; you should not see Starchoice drop video until you hit about 25%.

This is the word from a Starchoice technician in Canada who has never had a better signal than 70%.

I knew that from my limited FTA experience, but that answered my question, I guess 70 is good then ;)

And I guess I do not have to invest in a 75e as well ;)

ultatryon,

Having come from ExpressVu I too was concerned about having some channels in the 70's. I called tech support and that is when the guy said that that was normal and a good strong signal.

I should add that some of my HD channels and such are in the 80's and 90 %.

I have a 75e here in the S.E. US and I have around 81 on F2 and 92 on F1. Certain times I will have higher reading by 5 or so. I have noticed the DSR 4402x that I use at work on F1 drops out at around 25 when it rains hard. I used a 40x30 at work for a single satellite (old primestar) but the rain fade kept getting me at times so I upgrade to a round 1 meter. a lot of difference there.

For the first time on Sunday I lost my SC reception, due to massive cloud cover and rain. My Dish network went out a full 10 minutes before the SC did...and was out for about 30 seconds

my Dierectv went out last night way before the SC. very rarely have I ever had my SC at home go out due heavy rains. I also use SC/Cancom at work and I had to go bigger on the dish there for commercial use. since I did, it has done a lot better. I had thought about going to two 1 meter dishes at home for the SC but it's a lot of headache.

I have seen the signal meter, but I usually go by the ebno # (options 6-0-5 right arrow to Diagnostic C) for verification :)

When will BEV get a HD DVR?

Lost my signal to Nimiq 82 - Getting out the chainsaw!
