HI. We have been working on this problem for three weeks now and I am hoping someone could shed some light on it as Starchoice has not been helpful. They have had me do multiple resets from hidden menus, etc. I have had Starchoice for years. We got an HDTV and decided to get their DVR530. I can recieve many of the channels I'm supposed to with my new reciever, including the HD ones but not all of them. For example, about half of the CBC stations do not come in nor does TVO or the movie channels. It is not a cable issue nor a dish pointing issue as all the channels work on the old reciever. On the new box the satellite picture that indicates signal reception is red for the channels I do not recieve and green for the ones that come in. I can have one cable hooked up to each reciever and have them both be on the same channel with a red dish light on the new box and a green dish light on the old one. I have an elliptical dish with a dual LNB to recieve the signals from both of their satellites. A starchoice rep told me that I must need a quad LNB because the new DVR needs more power. Can anyone explain this to me? The only other solution that we have not tried is to use 2 short 25ft cables directly from the dish and bypassing the cables that are run under my house. The ones under the house are 125 ft. Could that length be enought to impact the signal reception? Thank you for any help you can provide.

1) Hook up your SD receiver to the new line coming in. Do you get all the channels (Check for signal on 420 + 559 even if you are not subscribed to them).

If all channels received on new line:
A) DSR530 is defective or
B) more likely - the 530 has the wrong channel maps, your SD receiver has the correct ones.

There are 2 types of elliptical dishes (+ 2 sizes of each): 1 style (non stacked) has a built in multiswitch with 4 outlets at the dish. The other style (stacked) has 2 LNBFs that look like beer cans with external multiswitch.

If your SD unit receives all channels, phone SC & ask for 530 to be rehit with the appropriate channel maps.

Sounds to me like you need to have the v-code changed (network data status). If you go into the options menu and select 4 then 7, you'll find the info here on the line that says "Network Data Status"... of course. Check the last 4 digits of this number. There are several differnet numbers they'll use depending on the LNB type you have. On the type of LNB you have, if I'm not mistaken... should be 4379. If you see the last 4 digits displaying something like 4352, 4380 or anything else, you need to call SC and make them aware of this. They'll need to rehit it with the proper code so the receiver will be able to decode the data stream. You can always plug the old receiver in and check to see if the numbers match. If not, you now know that's the issue right there.
