OK, so it has been less than a month since I bought my Starchoice DSR500HD and now they have replaced it with a DSR505HD, it appears the difference is DMI output and MPEG-4 capability along with a "better" guide....

Dang!

Also, anyone have issues with the "+ channel -" key on the DSR500? when using the - channel (down channel) function, often times it moves twice, like I hit the button twice. It always works properly when moving up....

Please let me know.

I dont have that issue with my 500, but I am using a Logitech Harmony remote in IR mode, instead of the UHF remote that came with it..

dang is right

double dang. Like you, I just bought the DSR500. I was torn between BEV and *C. I wanted DVI capability that BEV had but was worried about 2 receivers on BEV and also heard PQ was better for *C. Decided to go with *C and two weeks later I see I could have had DVI if only I had waited. I hate technology!

As I understand it, the 505 is a rebranded Voom receiver with DVI out. When I had Voom--and this is just for what it's costing you to read, which is nothing--I always used component cables because the DVI was way too dark. Might have been just my receiver, but I seem to remember that that was a sort of common complaint.
