Star Choice HD questions

I am looking ahead to my next step despite the fact I am still finishing a re-installation of my current system.

To receive HD will I need a new dish as well as a new receiver or just a new receiver?

If I find a new, non initialized 500 or 505 or 530 HD receiver should I care which one it is? Is the older 500 more quirky than others?

How is the picture on a non HD TV from a HD receiver? I may likely purchase the receiver first and the HD TV later.

what dish do you have already?

The LNB needs to be either the "two beer cans" or the quad LNB (with the squished 2 eyes)...HD is on the 2nd satellite

I have the 75E dish.

The LNB has 4 outputs 2 for A and 2 for B. I think it fits the two squished eyes description you gave (though I'm not sure). It is a non stacked unit. Since I just got it I have the box for the LNB at home if you need more information.

505 has DVI and is MPEG4 upgradable.

The non-stacked 75E lnb just has 4 outputs, not 2 for A and 2 for B.. all 4 outputs are 22k switchable between sats.

If you have the Stacked LNB (The beercan one) then it has two outputs, and would need an external 22k Switch (like a 2x4 multiswitch)

My error. I simply thought that 2 were for each Sat. I have the non stacked with the 4 switichable outputs.
