Star Choice DSR 505 Receiver

I have a DSR 505 receiver. The front display is in 24 hour clock when it is on but is in 12 hour clock when you press the power button on the remote and it goes into standby. The owners manual says nothing about how to choos 12/24 hour clock.
Anybody know how to do it?

That and the "This channel is not authorized" problem should be fixed at the same time.
