Guys,
I live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area and I am having an intermittent problem with the DFW local channels dropping in & out intermittently. What I'm seeing is that my picture will go blank after about 3-5 minutes after my Standard Reciever Box is turned on, then the picture will return as normal. The duration of the picture dropouts is very short, usually lasting about 5 seconds. I first was aware of the problem this morning when I was called over to my parents house to look into the problem. They are using a Sony vintage '96 Receiver Box in conjunction with a UHF-Modulated output to multiple rooms. They are seeing the intermittent picture dropouts when viewing the local DFW stations in the 885-895 channel range. I asked them if they had seen the problem appear with the national feeds, ie CNN, ESPN, TWC, etc. They are seeing the problem primarily with the local channels.
I tried the usual things, 110VAC removal power resets on the Sony DTV Receiver, and I also tried tweeking the "Truspec USM-8" UHF Modulator tuning adjustment to see if either had an effect on the problem. No luck with either approach.
Here's the strange part: When I went home to my house, I checked my Sony std ('99) Receiver and I'm also seeing this problem at my house. I use the old std Sony DTV Receiver primarily for the XM feeds for music thru my Surround Sound system and rarely watch TV with the Sony Std Receiver.
Since it's looking like this problem may be with the DTV std local DFW downlinks, I was curious if anyone else in the DFW area that watches the local channels via a std Receiver has seen the same problem.
