New Star Treks Start soon, I need UPN . . . .

I am about to "move" (quote un quote) to Minneapolis, a near by city so I can get UPN and Star Trek (there is no Over the air UPN where I live).

I get the Spot Beam for MN at 101 degress 12 and 20 all day long from
45 to 53 % on my 3 Tivos.

But for some reason, after 9PM it goes down to 25 to 35%
It still shows Green or locked.

Why is this?

Will it be strong enough to get the locals after 8PM when Trek is on?

I have the same problem

I notice the loss in power on 101 satellite as well, but I live on the west coast. I replaced the LNB for that sat, definitely helped bring in a more consistent signal but didn't 100% cure the problem. I also have a similar issue with 119 sat as I can't get any of the HBO channels in standard def. It is random when the signal drops, there are no trees in the line of sight, no other obstructions as well. The signal will be fine then pixelation happens, searching for sat, and the LNB can be either getting no signal or faint.

TNT Tony helped with this thread at the other DBS site. I think He hit it on the money as to why the signal goes up and down for those on the edge.

What do you guys think?

Here is the message that has just been posted:

The reason your signal drops is simple. The satellite (like all
satellites) is not in a perfectly circular, perfectly centered orbit. It's
darned close, but not perfect. This means that from our perspective,
the satellite is making little cicles in the sky. Since you are on the
edge of the spot beam you want to get, your signal level changes along
with the satellites wobble.

Is the singal strong enough? Probably on a clear, dry night. But no
promises.

See ya
Tony

Where ya located so close that you want (or are trying to get) Minneapolis locals :)

If you need an address to move..I can help ya with that :):D

Im in the Omaha area trying to get Minneapolis so I can watch UPN and Star Trek.

I think Minneapolis is the one to get as there are TWO O&Os owned and operated so I will get the national FOX and CBS HD Feeds.

Cox Cable has the rights for all UPN and there is NO Over the air UPN option here.

Help please. I cant miss Star Trek.

Anyone got an address or aptment number?

yep. I'll PM you a few :)

The Fox and UPN is owned by News Corp, so they are O & O
The CBS is O&O too :)

Looks like it all works good up till Midnight where Transponder 12 drops below 20%

Transponders 20 drops below 20% around 2am.

Durring the day and evening till 9pm both are over 50%.

What goes on at night? Do they lower the power on the sat?
